Questions about Steam

I am a total noob to Steam, and I have a couple questions about it before I buy New Vegas.

1. Is it installed from the disc, or from a download?

2. After Installation, can you play the game while offline?

3. Do you have to update every time you play?

3a. Does it do automatic updates? If so, can you disable them?

3b. How big would the update be if updating from the retail version?

Thank for dealing with my noob questions, would appreciate an answer ASAP.

1 Disk or download, but will update on install.

2 Yes just switch to offline mode

3 No only on intsall, you can disable auto update. Update rought guess maybe 300-400 meg not 100% sure since if I install it installs DLC to.

1. Either.

2. Yes, but you have to restart in offline mode.

3. Yes, and you can start in offline mode to delay it for awhile. However, after an amount of time (not sure how long) it will deny you access until it's at least made contact with the update service

4. Not sure.

If you buy it from disc, you have to download it from the disc, you can buy it off Steam with no disc needed.

You can play the game offline.

Updating is something you will want to do, Fallout New Vegas is very buggy, I'd update it.

It does automatically update, you can turn off auto updates.

Updates are different, some contain bigger packages, they don't take too long if you have a good internet connection.
