Crisb92
What would the specifications be of the computer of your dreams, the sort of thing you would buy if you suddenly came into a lot of money. Which brands would you go with and why?
Vagrant0
The real problem is that as good as it would seem now, in a year or two it would be barely good enough to run windows. At any rate, it would be large enough to fill a room, and probably generate enough heat to permaninantly change the climate of my immediate area. In short, as many processors as I can link together, and as many videocards, ramcards as I can link together. Toss in a couple 360 gig hard drives, hook up a dozen or so crosslinked T1 lines, and I'd be good for a year.
Jonlissla
ALL I NEED, IS MY LOOOOOOVE MACHINE! Seriously though, right now I would like to have some more space. My 80 GB is starting to get full...
TheTerminator2004
Basically the same as Vagrant said, only I'd have mine in some bunker somewhere out of the way, and then have the monitor and keyboard etc where they are now (and the disk drives), with basically a super-long bus connecting them, so that I can still stay in my room 'till about 1 in the morning playing games. KittyGirl
I go with what suits my needs honestly, which is mostly Oblivion , SWG, first person shooters and flight simulators, my rig I've been working on for a few years is also set up with software to read my eclipse's boost meter data as well. I use an Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme. Ironic because I've used AMD All my life. I do use a XION midtower case with an EXOS-2 External water cooling system
Mihael47
in case of a loterry win (chance roughly between 1:5x10^5 and 1:8x10^7 ROUGHLY) or bank robbery (more likely) the dream machineis, as of today's avalivle hardware; GPU: SLI'ed 8800 ultras CPU: Core 2 Extreme QX6850 (or dual server grade pocessors on a supporing MB) RAM: 8GB (or as much as systems would recognise) DDR3 2000 hard drive: all solid state NAND memory for OS and games and 40 15krpm sad drives in raid 1,1,1,1,5 (with a proper raid controller, ofcource)  Motherboard: x38 chipset, no faved brand. (see note for CPU) sound card: on of those fancy x-fi'es with even more ram phisics card: ageia phisiX (just for kicks, its not that necessary really) cooling: all the previously mentioned parts colled with liquid helium (4 deg's kelvin, like space cold [also like 80 degrees celcius colder then liquid nitrogen] o_O ) overclocking: not really a componenet but a big yes and as far as mechanically possible with these pieces and liquid helium) power supply: with that overclocking im probably just gonna hook it up to the grid directly  , but really one of those 2kw psu's case: with lottery (or bank) money at hand gonna pay someone to mod me a case that can fit all this efficiently in a mean looking box or, as said by house b!tchin' monitor: the monitor flight sims major airline companies use (if u've seen one you'll know why, and those who havent its like a HUGE, curved, transperant when inactive, cristalline solution) audio: the highest tech canal earphones i'll find + a high quality 7.1 surround (if you ask why 2 solutions, well earphones for precision and surround is for the bass to be felt not only in your head but with your kidneys :) mouse and keyboard probably gonna go the logitech g9&15 (i'm not really up to date when it comes to input devices :P so there you have it, dream machine as I would build it if I had the money.if I forgot anything then think: does it do anything usefull from a gamers prespective? if not then I didn't forget it, I ignored it, if yes then I did forget it so think the most high tech part in that area and mentally add it to my list  .
