I've attempted to add the grey Ainmhi ears and tail from "Ainmhi Reworked" race mod to the "Moonshadow Elf" race mod, by adding tail .nif and .dds files in the body data tab, and replacing ear .nif and .dds files in the face data tab, in an attempt at a custom race, but the tail wont show up in game! ears work fine, but no tail at all! Any solutions?

The problem is that the tail slot in humanlike races is blocked in game.

First solution base your modding on a Race that has the tail slot unblocked Kajit for example.

Second solution write a script that unblocks the tail slot. I don't know how to do this but there is a working script named "LT_EquipTailItem1.1.0". Google it and you will find it for sure.

I have yet to find a setting that makes a beast race a beast race. NPCs can each have their own skeletons assigned, but what makes a beast "race" use the skeletonbeast.nif?

The only way I know is starting by a copy of an existing beast race. Though this way you can't just "turn" a race into a beast race but have to redo it all "from scratch". There must be some setting for this, but nothing accessible from the CS as far as I could find.

It's working now. Used the UniversalSkeleton.nif
