Serious End Game Bug

Spoilers ahead for those who did not complete the game.

Hello all. I just beat Oblivion for the first time and ... well, I really wasn't impressed with the whole storyline. I thought it was short and lacked major content, IMO it makes up 5% of the game. I guess the real selling point of the game is the other 95% of the game's "open world". Anyways..

Anyway, once the whole Dragon vs Dagon thing ended and I was talking to Ocato, I walked out. The temple district has NO paved streets. There are huge holes in the ground that you can see through and under the waterfront door a GIANT gaping hole into the programming void below. I have NO idea how this happened but I tried to fix it by replaying the ending scene. It still did not fix it at all and now Ocato/IMperial Guards attacks Jauffre and Baurus and kills them. I tried putting their crime gold rate to 0, killing them and resurrecting them and they are still attacked and killed. Also, Ocato, Baurus and Jauffre have anaged to walk out into the void of the map and get stuck.

How did this whole map bug and attack(ing) bug happen and how can I fix it? I planned on beating the game with my main guy and then just doing anything I wanted in the free "roaming-ness" the rest of the game has to offer. Maybe fighters guild, arena..who knows. I was also going to make a new thief/assassin character too.

But this bug really sucks and it's keeping me from doing anything else with my main and making me just not want to play Oblivion anymore. I can't believe I didn't have ANY serious bugs until the very end of the game.

Can anyone offer any advice?

That sounds like more than just a bug, it sounds like you are missing files.

The NPCs infighting could just be because one of them broke the law (accidentaly hit another NPC) you could try using 'setcrimegold 0' on them.

I'll just reinstall since it's on steam. But i'll have to remod for the 3rd time.

You could just backup your mods then tell Steam to repair installation then dump mods back in the folder.

Could you post your mod load order, they could be affecting it.

I can't figure out how to export the list without typing every one out, that takes too long. So here is a screenshot in OBMM.

Your mods don't look like they could have caused the problem, if you want to export a list you can use wrye bash for that.

after looking at your load order, i want that respawning varla stone mod :P

I guess you might have to try reinstalling it, but don't do it straight away, wait to see if anyone else can help.

Maybe start a new game in the meantine for that open world experience.

Well apparently attaching ANYTHING to a post on these forums now fails endlessly, so here are a couple links to two screenshots of the problem. I don't know why I didn't post them before. Have a look at exactly what I'm faced with here:

As you can see, I wasn't using too many mods to begin with. After a reinstall, the streets were where they were supposed to be. Everything is fine and Jauffre and Baurus are also fine after "setcrimegold 0" on both and a resurrect. I tend to use the console on a "played" character for bug fixes only, I never cheat on a real character and then continue to play knowing that I created a serious advantage to get me through the game. IMO the Jauffre and Baurus bug was because the AI sucks in this game and both of them landed a killing blow on a guard when I didn't see it happen. Apparently Ocato did too because he destroyed Jauffre and Baurus and then got attacked by the IC guard but killed one before going unconscious which was hilarious, because it took 3 hits. I fixed his bounty too.

I also re-modded but made a better choice this time around. I carefully made sure that everything was installed properly this time around instead of rushing it through. I also left a few stupid things out this time too that I thought kinda drifted away from the original feel of the game. Kept the re-spawning Nirnroots and /Welky/Varla stones mods though for kicks.

Glad I got it fixed, can't wait for the next problem to crop up though.
