AveTruetoCaesar
At the moment I can't think of anything. We're coming up with basics right now. But thanks man, glad somebody is going to help out.
TrooperScooperMKII
So, in retrospect, it might be possible to get away with three worldspaces total.Oahu, Hawaii, and Niihau. The story being that the islands of Maui, Moloka'i, Kaua'i, and possibly Lana'i are just farm colonies. The reason being that the O'ahu colonials on the western end control Kaua'i, but the ones on the eastern end have divided Maui, Moloka'i and Lana'i between them. So you would hear reference to "the Spaniards are raiding Moloka'i again, we need to go and teach them a lesson" or "the supply ship from Maui arrived, the crop yields were better than usual."Hawai'i, the big isle, should be the starting point.I keep wondering about the limits of tree/plant animation... a strong jungle explorere feeling requires the closed-in, dark, spooky jungle... is it possible to have a "detachable" plant thing, i.e. allow the player to hack a path through the ferns?Probably too difficult to work with...The trees would be surrounded by big plants that the player has to wade through. If it's possible to control the collision thing so speed affects the noise/reaction, then a perceptive player could tell if/when an ambush is brewing by listening for rustling leaves... Also the tribals could have their own traps. A net dropping, pit of death, whatever. Anyway, I thought of a gag/macabre joke regarding sacrifice. Every time the player visits a new vilalge (or returns to an old one) they would see a "progression" of sacrifices."Fire god demands blood sacrifice of virgin chicken. Virgin chicken for fire god. We sacrifice many chicken to fire got, yet fire god still angry. Virgin chicken hard to find, for every chicken is flirt." The next time, they're sacrificing goats."Fire god say virgin chicken impossible to find. Wise, merciful fire god change sacrifice to virgin goat. We sacrifice many goat, but virgin goat hard to find, for every goat is flirt."Finally they get to humans."Fire god demand blood of human virgin, but human virgin hard to find, for every human is flirt. Fire god angry that fire god's servants not virgins." Then the priest starts inquiring about the PC's willingness/worth as a sacrifice, in a macabre combination of a proseltyzing (sp?) preist, car salesman, and blunt savage... leading to interesting dialogue choices... if unresolved ( ) the tribal leader will follow the player around while he/she remains in the village, occasionally chanting "Fire god demands human virgin sacrifice" at random intervals and/or when the player tries to talk to him. The tribal leader stops following when the player leaves the village. Talking to him upon returning has him follow you again.
AveTruetoCaesar
Maybe a resolution could be sacrificing a companion. Speaking of Companions, here's some ideas for Companions for the mod A Mercenary from the Mojave who was the only other person to come on the expodition. An Enclave Veteran from the Capitol WastelandA Non-Feral ghoul savage that you meet in the jungle.A tribal
TrooperScooperMKII
Maybe a resolution could be sacrificing a companion. Speaking of Companions, here's some ideas for Companions for the mod A Mercenary from the Mojave who was the only other person to come on the expodition. An Enclave Veteran from the Capitol WastelandA Non-Feral ghoul savage that you meet in the jungle.A tribalAll good ideas. Speaking of NCR, the first stage (so to speak) would be you/them going into the jungle... jungle expedition...Searchlight Airport would be a good place to start the md/expedition... they might be stopping there to get veterans from the Mojave....?Actually, why not have an Enclave vertibird from the Capital Wasteland stop over in Searchlight on their way west. The NCR would already be there; they would have crashed/gotten lost, with the survivors somewhere in the jungle...the merc could be substituted with a veteran (power armored) ranger. And the enclave veteran would, of course, be one of the crew aboard the enclave vertibird. it would also put a strict limit on the Player's initial sojourn- the remnant group is on a one-way trip, so you need to find your own way back, or even across the isles. So, we still need a lot of trees/ferns/plants.Native (or local- lots of species came through settlers, i.e. pineapple)frogs, toads, mongooses (! cobra killers, right? Deadly...), in "more remote regions on some of the islands" boar, deer, sheep, donkeys, goats. "Even wild horses Waipi'o cvalley on the big isle." Most of the "mundane" ones i.e goats, horses, were probably brought by settlerslots of birds and bats. Plenty of insects, dragonflies, flies, etc.Two snake types in Hawaii. One, the Island Blind snake, is compared to a worm in size. They eat termites and ants, which are a big problem apparently, just like rabbits are/were in Australia. Also a rare sea snake. The big threat, as always, is whatever careless colonials/immigrants bring in... there could easily be a mass escape frome a zoo or something. Only one species has ever been recorded, and it's supposedly very rare to see one. Though they are very poisonous, they are also described as very timid; the site I found says that he (the author) swam (and even played) with them.As always, Fallout-verse could change that. Geckoes were mentioned, but I didn't find anything particular. One species of scorpion, introduced from other parts of the world, the Lesser Brown Scorpion, compared to a bee sting in intensity... though with fallout-verse science, that could be scaled up. AveTruetoCaesar
Searchlight would be a good starting point. I'm not too sure about the Enclave Vertibird. As well there should be more mutated animals in the jungle.
TrooperScooperMKII
Map: Red=EnglandBlue=FranceYellow=Spain/Iberian League?Pink=Soviets/Independents?Turquoise/Light Blue=Dutch?Purple/Maroon=GermanyGreen=Enclave*Black is disputed lands that aren't actively fought over.White is areas that see heavy fighting. *Note- I had trouble fitting in a plausible "plantation" area for the Enclave, as the Diamondhead crater is surrounded by the entire city- no suitable farmland. To my pleasant surprise, I found another slightly smaller (much though higher, and with a small attachment thingy sloping towards the east- good for a runway type thing?) next to a smallish hill/heavily eroded crater & small lagoon/inlet that would fit the Enclave just fine as an HQ. So I figured that the whole tip would go to them. Yet I'm still uncertain as to the other crater- it could be under their control as a separate base, or they could have given it to England in exchange for land, or maybe they never controlled it to begin with... TrooperScooperMKII
Searchlight would be a good starting point. I'm not too sure about the Enclave Vertibird. As well there should be more mutated animals in the jungle.I threw the Enclave out b/c IMO it would make more (geopgraphical) sense for the enclave to be passing through the Mojave en route to Hawaii, than it would for the NCR to travel from California to Searchlight and then on to Hawaii...The NCR seems to be concentrating in the Southwest, the Baja is repeatedly mentioned as the main warfront, with Mojave being second-rate... As to the mutation, I was spitballing a few of the RL wildlife. Mutations, etc. are a given. The stickler is what, and how many, mutations. I'm more concerned with the what, but YMMV. The whole point of the Europeans investing huge money was to keep everything clean and pure... only Ni'ihau got nuked, they used widescale GECk type stuff to purify the water/earth afterwards, etc..... that said, the long warfare/decline would limit their indulgences, and they would focus primarily on Oahu and the neigboring farm islands, so Hawaii would eventually suffer from fallout/chemicals/neglect. The Mutants could be using experiments to ramp up the process for their own ends. Though it isn't saying much, overall it's still less irradiated/mutated than the rest of the world. Mutations would probably be more along the lines of that veggie-vault (can't remember it's number) i.e. explosive plant growth, sentient/sapient man-eaters, etc. instead of the irradiated toxic chemical wasteland of the rest of the world. AveTruetoCaesar
More plant creatures would be good. Also, killable fish would be nice to. I wish we could use the Spongebob soundtrack for a radio station, however I'd need to pay. An interesting fact is that Fallout uses the same company for it's instrumentals as Spongebob does for it's music. That's pretty cool.
TrooperScooperMKII
Spongebob... Fallout...I yield the Mad Genius title to you. For a montly fee of $29.99, or until I feel like stealing it back. Whichever comes first.
AveTruetoCaesar
Well, Spongebob does have insanely tropical/retro music. Besides, some of the music sounds like it could have been in Pulp Fiction.
