FloppyGoat
hello all.3rd character in (2 previous characters about 100 hrs in each, no problems like this) Oblivion having some big issues. I believe it is narrowed down to an Assassin Side Quest Mod by SeniorFrito. Oblivion gate wont close when Sigil stone is removed (latest patches, official and unnofficial, clean install and lost of experimentation). I am about 40 hours into this character, and unless Assassin Side Quest mod is installed, I can't save/ load or move between locations (Or close Oblivion Gates) Still have not been able to revive this character. Console commands wont work in this game either, however the CloseCurrentOblivionGate command works fine in other saved game characters where this Mod was never installed. How has everyone else gotten around the Oblivion Gate wont Close Glitch? Any way to edit this mods influence out of the save file? (probably unlikely, yeah?)ThanksFloppy
TheTerminator2004
I believe Wrye Bash lets you edit the dependencies of a .ess file (a save game), but I've never tried it, so I'm probably not the best one to ask for advice. You might want to check it out though.
FloppyGoat
Well This seems like a pretty prevelent problem. If anyone from Bethsoft is out there listening, This has almost ruined my initiative to play the game. The fact that a bug like this has persisted and can ruin a character with 100s of hours of gameplay behind it is just too much to think about. What if this happens to my other characters towards the end? How long has this game been out? and STILL not patched or fixed??Come on Bethesda, help us out please! TheTerminator2004
To be fair, it's not really Bethsoft's fault... it's whoever made the mod thats to blame.
FloppyGoat
Yeah, I agree, if it is in fact the mods fault, then it isn't bethesda... but be aware that this mod may have affected my files. However, Im not sure that this mod is in fact the cause of the glitch, because many other people have encountered this glitch and they might not have that particular mod installed. So it might not actually be the Mod that is to blame, but thats what I discovered in my research and detective work. on a side note, im sorry bethesda, I still like Oblivion. I was just feeling frustrated.
