pattamus
Is it possible to just skip Novac and still be able to progess in the storyline? I've played the game through already, so If I miss a thing or 2 it's cool as long as it gets this game back on track. Could I just cut and run to the casinos and try to find benny? Or should I head towards that town warring with NCR which the Khan had info on benny if i'm correct. I'd rather go that route to get as much story as possible, as this is a friends playthru, and I wanna try to show herRPGs like these don't have to be so complacated. The crashing in Novac didn't help my case, but I explained that away as a known bug, and told her I was now going to showcase the games many threads(lol), so I hope it works out. If anyone has any info for me, perhaps you've done it this way? I'd appreciate any tips, and if it flat out won't work, it would be good to know :) I'm sure she'd appreciate it, and so would I Thanks in advance. GhanimaAtreides
Could I just cut and run to the casinos and try to find benny? Yes, that's very much possible to do; you can skip all the stuff in between Goodsprings and the Strip if you want, meeting Benny will advance the quest normally. drakeelvin
Whenever I come into Novac the first time from the south (i.e. from Ranger Station Charlie) it always freezes for me if I follow the rail tracks just as I approach town. So to avoid this freeze I WALK when I get near town and I keep to the right side of the road and hug the cliffside (walking not running) and that gets me into town. I used to follow the railway in the older versions but since 1.4 I take the road through the middle of town instead. (That road that goes straight to Gibson Scrapyard if you keep following it.) I avoid taking the railway route ever since 1.4 came out. Seems to get me through without that freeze. There are a few places in the game I can count on it freezing on me if I run over a certain spot, one is just south of Goodsprings, the other is that railway heading into Novac. It's also got me in the habit of always making a full save when I head out of Goodsprings to leave town, and again whenever I pass Ranger Station Charlie. Just in case. (The Goodsprings freeze I also avoid in a similar way by walking on the shoulder of the highway, not down the center line as I would normally do when following a highway.) Good luck.
