seltonejock
Just as a warning, I honestly suck at making mods, the last time i had to re-install the game. so no I don't plan on being able to do any of this :PIn short the idea is to create a bunch of mini quests that are to repair the many facilities, buildings and eventually whole towns and areas within the Mojave. Imagine if you got the chance to not only stop the fighting in Freeside, but also:-clear away the rubble including the bus between the two areas of Freeside.- Expand the King's (and/or NCR's) power in Freeside in order to clear out the thugs.-Renovate the insides of all the buildings.-Donate new facilities to the Followers at the fort to try and get rid of the drugs in Freeside.-Rebuild the station in Freeside to make it OPERATIONAL.-and hundreds more cosmetic details from the roads to the walls surrounding the area. And this would not be quests like -give X amount of money- or -fetch X item- but actual work by the player requiring thought. And this is just one example of the amount of extra questing that could be put into one area.plenty of other areas could be remade, from the rundown towns of Goodsprings, Primm and Novac. To completely reviving the areas of Nipton and outer-Vegas and even the many small farms and outpost of the wasteland.Even to the point of taking on Vegas itself, Nellis Air force Base, Silverpeak bunker, Vaults, monuments and even the expansion of your desired Faction to dominate the wasteland in many bases AFTER the main quest. So far I have seen people attempt this idea but only for small areas such as the Bison Hotel, Nipton and the Lucky 38.That or the mod rebuilds the area, but with no involvement from the player or quest.(although these existing mods could be integrated into this idea with the right permissions.) I know this idea seems a bit extravagant to say the least, but a lot of mods have already been made that would simply just have to be meshed together properly, Other than that the mod would be split up into multiple pieces for each town allowing more people to work on different areas. This would also avoid compatibility issues with other mods.TIf anyone makes such a mod for an area please PM me.Otherwise would love to hear other ideas for this mod in comments :) Edited September 6, 2011 by seltonejock
seltonejock
Friend of mine had a great idea for all the buildings that you never enter. If anyone here has ever played Fable then you'll see where I'm coming from. Outside every building that is not lived in is a sign. This sign has the name of the New Vegas citizen that has claim on the building and how much they're selling/renting the place for. From the sign you can choose to pay rent or buy the property and then renovate it, build extension etc.If you choose to buy the property you can also choose how it is used Eg. Rent it, live in it, make a shop, farm, base, casino, hotel.....the possibilities are frankly limitless.Of course the size and location of the building would be factored into how you can use it, and in some circumstances what extension you have added (example: can't have a base without fortifying extension and the building must be big enough) This idea is quite simple in design (to a degree) and would add hours of content to the game. Utritum
While I feel The New Bison Steve Hotel and Lucky Casino does a good part of the job, I would like to see a mod that expands a bit on Primm after you find a new sheriff for the town. It doesn't need to be anything major; just make some of the houses in the back appear rebuild over time to indicate that people are settling, add a couple of tourists to the reopened Vikki and Vance casino and out in the streets, and maybe a street merchant or two to show that some economical growth is happening in the area. TrooperScooperMKII
The Lucky 38 suite reloaded is an excellent mod.I'd like to see a Boulder Springs overhaul... bombed out or not, it could have refugee camps, espcecially given the perceived safety of a NCR base. It could be a neat and ticklish side quest- what do you do with drifters who would strain limited military resources and/or die in waves if/when the Legion invades? Also there's a Nipton overhaul project IIRC. Basically all the little unoccupied buildings (the office areas? the big stretch of fiend territory south of the NCR Aerospace HQ? base with the drug dealer, refugees, the one where you get a quest to rescure Legion held family members?) should be overhauled. Is there a way of reflecting the end of the HELIOS questline in the relevant areas? IE Freeside has more working lights/machinery?
greenknightfury
I most definitly want something like this suggestion! I keep looking around and thinking; "If old school rpgs (dragon warrior, suikoden) could let you rebuild claim old fortresses/towns and repopulate them by finding certain npcs to live there more always seemed to get autoadded based on who you got moved in, why can't something as epic on all other scales compared to them manage it?" I mean really..who hasn't wanted to be a really hero...make a real difference to a town (that doesn't involve killing them all) ?
apixaez
So many request to rebuild and influence the mojave by player input .. yet so little modders that actually feel they are up to the task for it it seems :P
