Oblivion player going Fallout 3 need tips for mods.

Greetings.

I've been playing Oblivion for years and use a lot of mods because they make a mediocre game great. :)

Now I've bought Fallout 3: GOTY edition. From experience with Oblivion mods I know it can take a long time to find the best and most used mods by myself so I thought I'd ask the community for help. So here are my questions.

1. What are the best and most used Ambience mods? By ambience I mean mods like Oblivions Better Cities, Natural Environments, Oblivion Cats and so on. Basically mods that enhance the look and feel of the game.

2.best and most used Body Replacers, Textures and Cosmetic Mods? Things that make NPCs, Companions and yourself look better.

3. What Body Replacer is most used regarding Armour and Clothes?

4. Programs that mods need to work. If Fallout 3 is like Oblivion I'll need a couple programs to get a lot of the mods to work.

Thanks beforehand. :)

I honestly don't use a lot of mods for Fallout, I think it's pretty great by itself and only requires a few tweaks. Your opinion may differ, however. That being said, the essentials are the unofficial patches and Darnified UI. The 3 main mods in my game are FWE (Fallout Wanderers Edition) EVE (Energy Visuals Enhanced) and 20th Century weapons.

FWE- Overhaul that increases difficulty and immersion requiring eating drinking and sleeping. Also overhauls fast travel, stats, and a host of other things. Very configurable with in game menus. This mod is similar to Oscuros or Frans for Oblivion. Highly recommended.

EVE- If you decide that energy weapons are for you, get this one. Overhauls the 'special effects' of energy weapons and adds some nice new ways to fry enemies. Exploding heads FTW.

20th century weapons and ammo.- This one got hidden due to some questions about the mesh origins I believe. Hard to find, but adds nearly every modern small arm you can think of. Used with another mod called CALIBR it also adds/converts ammo to real life counterparts and standardizes ammo between various CALIBR based mods.

Body replacers- I use Type 3 body and it seems to be one of the most common. There's lots of clothing and armor availible for it. I don't think the Fallout bodies are quite as nice as the ones for Oblivion but this one is my favorite so far.

Lastly I'd recommend a lighting/ambience mod. I've used Fellout before, but right now I'm using one called Starlight. Search around and take your pick.

To get them all to play nicely you'll want to use FO3Edit and FOMM. These are the same programs you may know as TES4Edit and OBMM. Be sure to use FO3Edits Masterupdate and Merged patch features. The merged patch functions like a Bashed patch. I've tried Wrye Flash for FO3 but for some reason it didn't work and FO3Edit did.

Good luck and have fun.

Thank you! That was just what I needed.

If anyone else have something to add to the list it would be nice. :)
