Your favourite mods

Even though Oblivion is probably the best RPG style game out there, there is no doubt that it has its flaws. As its been out for quite a while now, and tonnes of mods have come and gone into and out of our OBMM load lists, now its time for the community to inform new users which mods are the best out there.

1. User Interfaces

=============

Dark UI, DarNified UI? or some mix and match?

2. Overhauls

===========

Obviously the big 3: OOO, FFF or MMM? Or even FCOM (guess this is gonna be the fave, myself included!!)

3. Levelling System

=============

Standard Vanilla, OOO or any others?

4. Weather System

=============

AWS, Natural Weather? Run both together?

5. Water

==========

Natural Enviroments, Enhanced?

6. Vampirism

==========

Scorns, Kiyoshis or any other?

7. Favourite Female Body

==================

Exnem, Babs, FantasyFigures?

8. Combat System

=============

Deadly Reflex, Duke Patricks Dodge and Weave? Or have you even tried running the 2 together?

9. Quests

===========

Name your favourites!!! List in order of preference if possible.

10. Anything else you reckon greatly improves the game? Please keep lists to a bear minimum, try to exclude retextures, weapon or armours, homes...

Please keep to the topic headings. This is to aid new users with gameplay, so no landscapes (its obvious: Qarl's Texture Pack 3 (if your system can support it) and all of the Unique landscapes), optimization, utils (this too is obvious: OBSE, OBMM, Wyre Bash for those who want to use FCOM), character/companion texture changes, and remember NO WEAPON AND ARMOUR mods. Sorry cyronarxes, this is not intended to offend you), its just that none of these are "definite" essentials as most of us will never even look for them and there would simply be too many references which might overwhelm the new users to the community.

Cheers guys, I'm sure new adventurers will greatly appreciate your input.

AHHHHHHHHHHH, there just so many, the list would be endless. Even Aelius who has linked around 400 mods on his site hasn't even linked many that I would consider exceptional. Well here are just a few I will be planning to use.

Atmospheric oblivion

MTAEVWD

enhanced grass

operation optimization

Streamline

OBSE

Improved facial textures

Ungoggled helmets

Bluesteels lod mod

Cap'n kills non tilling landscape

LOD noise replacer

I am far too lazy to name more, but this is just a small taste of what I use. check out aleius or buddahs lists for mods. Buddah knows more mods than everyone on this forum combined (except for Dark0ne obvoiusly ;D). Anyways you should really look up some mods especially dealdy reflexes, that are a must have. same with qarls texture mod. Oh, there are five mods in progress which you should be anticipating.

. Uniuqe landscapes

. Community Duneon project

. Imperial City Expanded

. Kvatch rebuilt

I hope this helps and by the way, have a day 8).

There are already loads of topics like this... why not just look at them?

Here are just a few, to save you all the effort of using the search feature. Aren't I generous?

And that's just from the first page of results. Admittedly, I have set it to show 40 topics per page, but it's still a lot.

Even though Oblivion is probably the best RPG style game out there,

Anyone who's actually played a real rpg knows just how wrong you are. Oblivion's a great game; I won't disagree with you on that, but it is not the best rpg at all. Morrowind's rpg aspect was much better; every Forgotten Realms game is better; the KotOR games are way better; even the pathetic cell phone Doom rpg is better than Oblivion. I love Oblivion, but it fell short of the rpg aspect.

As far as my favourite mods, I'd have to say all the ones I have installed. Since I have 48 mods installed, I'm not going to post the entire list. I like them all equally, so I can't put the ones I 'like the best'.

Wow, looks like I really struck a nerve there. Calm down son, my intention was not to offend anyone, but to help out the newbies...

Now that you mention it though...

Have you tried playing Morrowind for any lengthy amount of time recently? I remember buying it shortly after playing Oblivion cos I wanted to know more about the lore behind the series. I played it for about 15 minutes and quit, the missing speech made it so tiresome to play, especially after having played with that feature in Oblivion. I also played GTA: San Andreas before trying out GTA III and Vice City, which made them a little boring in comparison as a result.

Anyway, my point is thats its natural to think a game or another was the "best" or "better", but that was back then... It was probably very original for its time, (and again) that was back then... Times change and improvements are made, can you imagine anyone who used to think Pac-Man or Pong ruled, would even contemplate playing those games for a week!??

Maybe I did phrase it incorrectly though maybe I should have categorised it as the best "Action/RPG", as I also really enjoyed and loved KotOR 1 & 2.

Well, apologies if anything I've said anything that has offended you, just making a point heard...
