Game freeze...

:wallbash: i've tried all the fixes i could find... the game still freezes (with sound playing), and the only way to quit it is CTRL+ALT+DEL...

i'm using the latest 'actual' version of FNV with many mods, sometimes i can play like 15-20 minuts before it freezes and sometimes i can't even reach 1 minut.....

the problem is i don't remember i had these freezes when i started the game (i started the game WITH many mods, i installed new ones since and I UN-Loaded them... but still have freezes)..

the freezes happen randomly, sometimes when i open a box, sometimes when exploring the mojave or when entering somewhere...

i tried the default game configuration (with low setting)... not the solution, tried to change settings in fallout.ini like disable audio -dunno why i tried that :P- but it didn't work..

ah and i'm not sure if it can help but when i listen to a radio, when the freeze happens my radio freezes too, but not the other sounds including world radios..

 

So i wonder if someone can help me fixing this... thx in advance

btw i'm using XP SP3,graphic drivers are up to date and here's my config :

holy s*** thats a lot of mods. i been having the same problem with freezing on al loading screen and and keeps crashing unfortunately i dont know how to fix this problem. maybe if u install NV game stabilizer it might help but idk. i have it and game crashes less but freezes more.

unfortunatly the NV Game Stabilizer is not available on this site and its author is banned i think, so i can't try it (i can't find it elsewhere), and the freezes happen ingame not in loading or menus (i'm not experiencing crashes .. well 1 or 2 in a loooooong period that's all).

Your issues are from using a large amount of mods which the crashing is mostly caused by

 

1. Identical to master records- Dirty mods, dirty from the process of making them, clicking an clacking, but the didn't clean the mod before uploading.

 

2. Items set to delete - ModOne.esp deletes this item, ModTwo.esp doesn't delete the item but only moves it slightly (instant crash when loaded in-game)

 

3. Mixed an matched data - A little bit from this mod, a little bit form that mod. All mixed together with the Vanilla game. Messyness, so messy in fact that it destabilizes the game.

 

4. Ruined Navmesh data - Same as #3 only this one only needs a tiny amout of mix & matching to cause an major crashing issue.

 

5. Corupted Havok Data - This is more from chaos, items getting blown away or into a ludicrous physics situation either by force or amount.

 

6. Partial & fully corupted cache data - Playing the game for 4 to 8 hours without restarting the application or rebooting the computer, as well as leaving the computer on all the time, never rebooting,

 

7. Corupted save games - Those not created by partial cache coruption are created by autosave, quicksave, and overwriting save games. The only way to rule it out, would be to avoid using those.

 

8, System tax - Background services, un-optimized content, maxed out settings. Laggy framerates will suffer more issues from the system glitching out due to system tax.

the three first points are interesting, so if i understand well i need to clean these mods (i'm gonna remove all conflicts and duplicated modification of one option)... i'll try this and see if it works (gonna take time :confused: )

I feel ya man. My game keeps freezing as well. I have an optimal rig and can run the highest settings with little to no lag, yet this beast keeps freezing up on FNV with or without mods being installed. I've tried many fixes as well, and yet, no dice :sweat: ...It makes the game less worthwhile when I spend more time trying to fix the bugs and best prevent them with what us game junkies like to call "solutions." If someone knows a better way, please find this post and help us. God knows we all could use more ideas on how to combat these horrible, yet frequent, FNV bugs...

Those were crashes to desktop, freezing is something else. My bad I thought it said crashing yesterday... Though the diagnosis doesn't change much. There isn't much we know about freezing. I would start with setting the engine up for Multithreading... You would find these inside the Fallout.default.ini Fallout.ini FalloutPrefs.ini Start in Fallout_default in the steam/steamapps/common/FalloutNV folder. Then edit Fallout.ini in the mydocuments/mygames/FNV folder. Fallout_default should override Fallout.ini an kind of automaticly update the changes, but I never trust it. I'll force myself to read all 3. FalloutPrefs.ini is more of the file used to store user settings an bindings once in-game. Some tweeks required setting in both Fallout.ini an FalloutPrefs.ini to work in Fallout 3. You can't take the Tweekguide verbatim, it's close but it's a grey area. Best to test it out. After this tweeking bit I would test it in windowed mode or by starting a new game.

unfortunatly GrindedStone these tweaks didn't work... i still have random freezes :facepalm:

by the way i'm searching if there's a way to purge all the mods using FNVEdit and removing ALL records except the last used one (latest in load order)...i wonder if it's possible (perhaps it will fix the issue or at least lessen the stutters and other incomodities).

Did you try those or did you already tweek it yourself?

Did you start a new game or try it in windowed mode?

Setting high audio cache an iPreloadSizeLimit causes issues.

 

You can also un-install visual C++ if you have it, then re-install it

Same thing for .NET framework 1 2 3 4, if you have them

Then if you don't have either just install them.

i tweaked the game some time ago, but replaced the original files after seeing it wasn't working, then i tried your tweaks, i changed all the values you gave me in both files but as i said it didn't work... i'm gonna un-reinstall C++ & .NET but i'm not sure that's the problem 'cause i didn't change thouse since i started the game & if i remember well i didn't have freezes at the begining... perhaps it's the save, i'm gonna start a new char & see if i can play normally
