ManehattanProject
I have been trying to setup the GECK's version control software to ease working with a group on a mod. I have managed to get it mostly working except for the checking in portion. The GECK successfully creates the new esm file and the associated fid fud and fvd files so it has write permissions to the folder that is setup. But when I go to check in a change the program throws an error CreateFileMapping failed to open file with error access is denied. After this when I try to checkin again it says the esm has been changed so the program is touching the file in some fashion. Any ideas as to what could be causing this? Is it some kind of compatibility issue with windows 10?
RoyBatterian
If you are using powerup, you'll need to disable it while using version control (may or may not be related). https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/64272-version-control-in-new-vegas-geck/ This may be what you need, see the 5th post or so. ManehattanProject
I have tried with running the vanilla GECK.exe and it is giving the same CreateFileMapping error. If there are any other ideas I can try I would appreciate it.
RoyBatterian
I'm sorry I can't help further as I've never bothered with version control. Maybe shoot printerkop a message, I think he's got it working.
ManehattanProject
Printerkop gave a suggestion that worked. I had to run the GECK as an admin and then it would allow writing of the esm file when checking in. Thanks RoyBatterian for pointing me in the right direction.
