GECK will not save scripts

Hi all!

I know that this is a common problem and has been asked before. I have now a good idea of what I am supposed to do to get scripts to save, but cannot get it to work.

Apparently, the way to get scripts to save is to use GECK Powerup. Having re-installed my Steam Directory outside of ProgramFiles X86 it is now thus

C:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Fallout New Vegas

First I re-installed the GECK and then re-installed NVSE, and installed latest GECK Powerup.

Second, apparently I need to launch the GECK with NVSE now to get Powerup to work and to do this, and I quote from the NVSE readme;-

"Open a command prompt window, navigate to your NV install direcory, and type "nvse_loader -editor". Alternately you can create a shortcut to nvse_loader.exe, open the properties window and add "-editor" to the Target field."

It is at this stage that I am failing. When I open the command prompt window it gives me C:\Users\(my name)and no matter what I do I cannot get to the stage where I can type C:\Games...etc.

Neither can I seem to change the target field on the nvse_loader.exe shortcut.

Would it be possible for some kind person to type a blow by blow instruction, complete with where I should put spaces etc, when to hit return etc, of how to do it

(a) By command prompt. Ie exactly how I get to the C:\ without all that users malarkey and then type in the NV install path etc

(b) What exactly I should type in the Target field of the nvse_loader.exe shortcut. The error I get with this is the "Not a valid file path" blah.

I thank you very much in advance!

All you really need to do is create a shortcut on your desktop with the target as:

"C:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas\nvse_loader.exe" -editor

This will start GECK with NVSE and the powerup will be loaded anyway since it is a plugin.

Hey Sunnie that's great, thanks for your help! What I was doing wrong was adding the word editor in the wrong place. I just typed exactly as you said and the GECK launched.

Now to see if it will save scripts!

Edit: OH YES! It does!
