SpoonyBard
I'm putting together a playlist of music for a Fallout game set in the Smokey Mountains region of the US. The title of the game overall is Fallout: The Secret City and is based upon what happened to the nuclear weapons development facilities of Oak Ridge Tennessee in the Fallout universe. I'm using the Savage Worlds rules if anyone is interested. This is what I have at the moment Fallout 3 uses mostly 40's big band music. I'm centering around 50's and early 60's county (though some of the recordings may be as late as the 70's) Rocky Top - Osborne Brothers (this is the anthem of the region so of all the songs, this one isn't up for debate. If I was doing a trailer it would be this instead of "I don't want to set the world on fire" or "Blue Moon"George Jones - White LightningRoger Miller - Chug a LugRoger Miller - Hot Rod LincolnJohnny Cash - A Boy Named SueJimmy Dean - Big Bad JohnTennessee Ernie Ford - Sixteen Tons Suggestions or comments welcome. Oh, for those interested, this is the preamble of this particular game War. War never changes. Everything has a beginning. A place of birth. So it was with the bomb which destroyed mankind in the Great War. During the second world war the United States Government founded a city in the hills of east Tennessee to refine the raw materials to build the first bomb and in the century between that war and the great war the majority of the nuclear weapons building capacity was located here. So it was no surprise to anyone that in the two hours of the Great War the Chinese government threw a third of their arsenal at this key point in attempt to cripple the weapon making capacity of the United States. And so the Secret City became too radioactive and poisonous for anything to survive. That was until 6 weeks ago. Something has caused the radiation to subside. Scavengers from across the wastes have converged on the area to find out why and discover what lies within the Secret City...

BenWah
Great topic! I recommend downloading the 100 songs (all are license free) from "GNR ENHANCED" mod. It's 4 big zip files, a great starting point. The volume levels have been normalized in the archives You don't need to install the mod, just download it and listen to the songs directly from the mp3s.
