harvengure
I thought it would be interesting to see a mod that explains why the hero of Oblivion is in jail to begin with. I've seen one so far and I am sure there are more but I don't recall at the moment. As a starter project for myself I've started to dabble on such a mod. The basic idea of which is the main character of the game is framed (most likely murder) by an NPC who, with some prophetic power, foresaw the main character as the one who would close the gates of Oblivion, foiling his plans of stealing accumulative Deadre power for himsef, and possibly Mehrunes Dagon "himself". While this may sound like a large undertaking, I feel it sounds much larger then it really has to be. As previously stated I have somewhat started the construction of such a mod but in terms of natural skill I do not see it ever working since of the harsh learning curve I have experienced so far with the CS and several 3D modeling tools, most likely due to my autism but I feel some people are meant to just suck at specific things. :P If anyone is willing to assist in this project in any way (or just make it), it would be appreciated or as I said before I don't really see it becoming a reality. Tecknosis
I've never thought about why The main Hero In Oblivion Was in Jail.A lazy man way to do such a mod is just Add a Book That Become buyable after finishing the game Giving the hero A very vague Biography
harvengure
Yes, but I am not lazy...just very bad at doing such things. I keep trying to though every time I get hooked on something else. :P Help or no I intend to keep working on this despite that as I said I don't really see it going anywhere since I really can't do this stuff. It's nice to have a very basic working knowledge though and who knows, maybe one day I'll find my niche in this. I see it being a "what happens after the main quest" sort of thing. I mean it can intertwine with the main quest obviously since any such character who had framed the main character would be scrambling to fix things since his framing of the main character put the character exactly where the framer didn't want him. Then once you have completed the main quest you can stop the antagonist who had put you in jail in the first place from succeeding in his attempts to gain some of Dagon's power if not take it for himself. I plan on starting off small though and letting the project grow on it's own as I learn what I am doing. For example, making it so once could travel back up through the sewers and up to the prison, or adding barred windows to the wall of the prison like the one that lets light into your cell. a not that that has anything to do with the character but just a thought. Maybe make it so the bones which weigh 4 can be used as clubs so right in your cell you have a weapon.
TheTerminator2004
Don't get too ambitious... concentrate on what the main premise of the mod (why the PC was in jail), then when you've done that, you can try adding barred windows and bone clubs (both of which would be difficult, as you'd need to be able to use Blender or Max or something for the windows, and Nifskope for both of them. Sypron
Part of the elder scrolls idea is that you have no background, and you choose who to be. As quoted from tod howard at the demonstration video "You are a nameless hero, its up to you to determine who you will be." As interesting as this mod would be, it would ruin some role playing elements (for some people). I know you might not agree with me, and I understand why. This is something that people feel differently about from person to person.
