redmattis
I play Fallout New Vegas with patch 7. Whenever I go near a lamp or similar item i hear a buzz sound that can only be described as deafening. Is there some way to fix this? It only seems to affect lamps and neon signs as far as I can tell, so if this is difficult to fix could someone instruct me on how to remove/replace the sound? I have already re-installed the game, yet the sound remains. I use an fairly new integrated ASUS motherboard soundcard.
Sunnie
There is no "patch 7" in a legal copy of FNV. Try buying the game and getting real updates from Steam. :armscrossed:

Seeing as Steams offline mode never fails to disappoint I used a cracked exe to circumvent Steam, though that couldn't really be the issue. Don't recall where Steam writes out versions either, but seeing as it as far as know always insists on updating when something new pops up assume it runs the latest version I tested around a bit more and suspect that all ambient sounds play at a too high volume. After reinstalling the game the problem persists unfortunately. I can deal with everything except for the screeching lamps though. Do all sounds have a file in the game directory? It would seem easy to solve it by just replacing them with an empty placeholder if it were so. Edited September 14, 2011 by redmattis

Admitting that you're using a "cracked exe to circumvent Steam" will probably not get you any help here but I'm betting it will get you banned. I honestly don't see what the fuss is about, but I guess it makes sense that it would be different in countries with laws against this, as arbitrary and strange as they may seem to me. I suppose it makes sense to keep quiet about circumventing steam, but I'd much rather be honest about it. That kind of thing should be legalized in all countries since the alternative is merely to the benefit of the companies at a cost for the consumer. :pirate: We don't want to hear your excuses ye scurvy skallywag. Overboard with ye. -myrmaad Edited September 16, 2011 by myrmaad
