DeputyArms
Hey all, I'm in a bit of a bind at the moment. I have some armor I modeled a little while back, and I decided I want to try and get it into Fallout: New Vegas. I originally modeled it around the human male template, so it's in proportion more or less. I've somewhat successfully imported the helm into New Vegas (albeit it's missing a neck when paired with other armor), but I'm lost on the main armor because I'm not 3DS max friendly-- I studied Maya in my college days, and skinning seems to be very different so far. So, my request is this: Can anyone help me skin this armor and get it packaged into Fallout:New Vegas? At the very least, a comprehensive tutorial on skinning in Max would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone could help with a collision mesh for the helmet, that'd be great too; Max keeps crashing on me about halfway through.
GrindedStone
Blender is hard to learn yeah... But there are more modders using it. The big question would be does 3DS or Maya export armor .nif meshes that are ready for use? That's pretty much what we have. LOL converting from TES to FO3 is basicly running the mesh thru blender, import/export ha ha. Crazy huh. You could also ask the folks at Eat 3D? Nexus forums has it's own spot for 3d-Modelling Weapons an statics require a little work after export, but armor is pretty much ready to test out in the game upon export with Blender. Armor doesn't get collision I reckon it's set up in the actual skeleton. World models would, an quite often we resort to using the box shape collision because it's a simple primitive that is easy to use an also quite fool proof. You can do custom havok but it's always hit or miss, in 1/4 of the time you could have just used a box shape set up.
