bben46
Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the WIKI section of the Nexushttp://wiki.tesnexus...stall_procedure It allows you to preserve any saves and mods, or remove them completely - your choice. However, if it is a mod problem this will not fix it. All of the vanilla horse meshes and textures are in the bsa files that were installed when you first installed the game. those bsa files should never be removed. If you did inadvertently delete one, then reinstalling is required to get it back. If you are not sure, here is a wiki with a list of the original files installed - They should ALL still be in your data folder.Bben's Oblivion Revert to Vanilla gameWIKI http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Revert_to_vanilla_data You might try Slof's horses base which adds some really nice new horse meshes and textures to the game. http://www.slofslair.../id=5p5k6md28n8 It overwrites any existing textures & meshes and should add any that are missing. Let us know how it works out.
Keirgarth
One thing you can try that might help out. Rename the bsa that came with Vilja to add Oblivion- to the beginning of it. This should allow the game to see the bsa in case it doesn't right now.
eend123
Again thanks for your advice. I downloaded Slofs horse mod into the horse folder but Vilja's horse still was invisible, so I completely removed the horse folders from meshes and textures and then copied slofs horse mod into it. So, at the moment Vilja's horse is visible again (yay!) and so are slofs custom horses, also player/npc owned horses have their saddles back, but now the games default horses are invisible! So I'm gonna spend an hour or so copying the meshes and textures back one by one to find out which one causes the problem. By the way, can someone tell me why the games default horses are invisible now I deleted the horse folders, since the meshes/textures folder doesn't even exist when you've only installed vanilla Oblivion? JDFan
Not sure but could be a conflict between Slofs mod and some other mod that changes the horses (IE. Horse Armor For instance) -- If Horse armor SLC is loaded after slofs mod then the changes to the NIf that were made by that mod are changed back to default on the ones modified in the Horse armor mod since it also modifies them and only the last mods to load changes remain active. eend123
Problem solved! A couple of meshes caused the problem, found them by copying groups of files in and out the folder, then suddenly the saddles returned, so I arranged icons on modified date and together with the removed saddle file several other files appeared last modified on september 12th. Dropped all of them out and since then everything isfine again. Searched my harddisk for some clues about which mod it was but can't find anything. Thanks all of you. Bben also thanks for slofs mod, it has some really nice details. So, after all, we live happily ever after. After I created a backup datafolder, just in case for the future.
