N9NTH
I was playing Fallout 3 GOTY vanilla for quite some time on the original V1.0 version straight from disc. VATS was nice and fast and I hadn't encountered any gamebreaking bugs. Then, I found out about the official patches and I updated to V1.7. Upon installation I found that VATS had a 3 second lag after zooming in, and more importantly, that my hit percentages were significantly lower than they were before I patched (I'd often get all zeros despite small guns being 100). I have Commando and Sniper perks.I reinstalled the original V1.0 and all was fixed.. until I wanted to try the DLC and wound up having to update back to V1.7.The DLC worked, but the VATS problems were still present.I've rolled back to 1.0.0.15 to try the fake patch, but I couldn't get the DLC to load properly, and I installed the Unofficial Fallout Patch in hopes of fixing the problem but to no avail.Everyone else says 1.7 fixes the VATS problems, but in my case this obviously isn't true.Any suggestions? EDIT: Never mind, I found this guide (http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/125185-getting-dlc-and-mods-working) which covers getting dlc working in 1.0.0.15. Hopefully after following all the instructions all will be well. Edited September 17, 2011 by N9NTH
GrindedStone
GOTY isn't 1.0 uh... There is probalby a 1.0 GOTY, but that isn't Fallout 1.0. GOTY edition is all DLC on a pre-patched to 1.7 disc that players still patch to 1.7 anyway because it solves issues. VATS on the other hand was somewhat changed after 1.0 to work a little different, but not enough to make playing in fake patch or 1.0 a viable option. I.E. 200 pros for using 1.7 an 1 con it is a obvious choice. The issue you had could be from not starting a new game after major changes were made which can cause all kinds of problems. Autosaving, quicksaving, using the continue button, an overwriting save games can also cause all kinds of problems. There's also about 12 pages of other stuff you need to know, so get to reading.
