Dual Wielding

Ok, a couple of things I'd like to point out:

1) The game engine is not set up to support dual wielding. As was already stated, animations would have to be redone, which is no big deal. However, to successfully impliment it, you need to re-write parts of the game engine - which is a VERY huge deal. But it is doable by someone, or a team, that has the required knowledge and time - I'll give you this one.

2) Re-writing the game engine and releasing it publically in the form of a mod, new software, etc. is a copyright violation and no one is going to risk a huge ass fine just to make all of us happy as hell. This would easily explain why the creator of those videos will not release his mod, aside from the aformentioned bugs and glitches.

3) I've seen some of the images you're talking about. Some are photoshop-ed, others are custom-made static poses - I'm not sure of the difficulty in making them, but it must be far easier to make a static(non moving) object have things, such as dual wielding of weapons, as opposed to a playable, fully functioning mod that gives the same things. In short, they are well made frauds, made with the use of mods/modding software or picture editors.

Now, the good news - Skyrim, the next Elder Scrolls game, is supposedly going to feature dual wilding of weapons. And it's an entirely new game engine Bethesda developed internally. They wouldn't have spent countless dollars and hours developing a new engine just for a single game - and it's a very strong possibility that our next Fallout adventure will run on the Creation engine - and thus have all of the abilities that it can provide ingame.

I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but to the best of my knowledge what I said is the cold hard facts.

...Actaully that's pretty damn good to hear anyhow. Glad to hear the game I've been so anxiously awaiting has such an engine and that FO4 will more than probably run on the same engine.

Believe me Matt - I've been a Fallout vet since the original FO, and dual wielding is something I've always wanted to see. Just kep in mind that I did say Skyrim will SUPPOSEDLY have it, and that the assumption that the next FO title will have the same abilities is just that - an assumption. If I should find any concrete info from Bethesda, I'll be happy to pass it along to you.

Thanks, either way, at this point in time I'll be happy if I FINALLY see a REAL trailer for the game.

Real trailer? There is trailers that have been released. Look it up on IGN or Gametrailers. There will be videos on there showing combat and dual wielding.

im sure itd be damn near impossible to make dual weild pistols probably tough to do it for melee weps but i know that it wouldnt be too hard for a good modder to do "unarmed" weapons most of those already attack with both hands all youd have to do is flip the glove or mirror it and stick it on the other hand sadly i dont know how and not sure why noone has done this ethier, as proof it can be done there is a fallout 3 mod that is dual deathclaw guantlets and newvegas is basically the same game if it can be done in FO3 then it can prolly be done in FNV

Hi Chrisinnyshotgun. I am under the impression a player can't have two projectile nodes, so what I'm thinking is having two projectiles from the projectile node (which would be in teh middle of the two pistols) spaced wide enough apart to appear to come from each barrel. The guns would have to fire simultaneously and they would need new animations. You would also need a a completely new weapon. The two pistols would actually be one nif (much like a pair of boots is one nif) and considered a two handed weapon. For example you couldn't use two 10mm pistols, but would have a new weapon called "dual wield 10mm". You would also have to make a new nif with two projectiles (not overly different from the multiplas's 3 projectile nif) for the bullets. In addition the weapons would have to be matching since your projectiles can't be mixed.

One thing I don't know is how much leadway you have with where the bullets exit the projectile node. If they can't be made wide enough to fit each barrel then hopefully at least the muzzle flash could.

At first this is how I thought Invalidfate was doing it but his pistols don't seem to fire at the same time.

Anyway the reason I bring it up is that I have a mod that will use gunslinger protectrons and I'd like them to dual wield some large caliber revolvers to double the damage output.
