custom weapon- what to mod to change damage on it?

i have this weapon that i loooove the look of but it hits waay too hard to make the game fun. What can I mod to change the damage on it?

you can easily change the damage of the weapon, or create a weaker version of it

just open the plugin that adds the weapon in the Construction Set, find the weapon, and lower the damage to whatever value you want (just know that the value you set is the damage dealt with maximum strength and ability, so the value you set won't be the one you see in your inventory, unless you are a true master)

 

just make sure to set the plugin as active before you load it, and then save the plugin, and you are done (though you should make a back-up of the plugin before changing it, just in case)

is that the .nif file?

 

it came with a .esp file a .nif file and 2 .dds files

In the CS, you will choose the weapon by name. When you go to it's properties you will be editing the information about the weapon, not the .nif or .dds files.

a plugin is either an .esp or .esm file (though you'll see mostly .esp files, especially for smaller mods)

 

so open up the .esp file in the CS, and do your thing
