Cine_eater
Hi all, is it at all possible to make a camera to use in-game, I know you can take screen shots using the ` key but I was hoping someone could make a camera that can take shots and damage ghosts and willo wisps etc, if so it would be great if someone could create an Akiviri manor house in the style of Project Zero or Fatal Frame in the US which when entered removes all your weapons from you to be returned only when you manage to escape the manor, the mission could be activated by finding the diary of a well renowned scholar who speaks of going to this place and having a NPC approach you at the mages guild asking you to investigate his dissapearance.I thought of this because I'm using alot of the soundtrack from Project Zero in the dungeons which really creeps me out and makes me jump when I'm suddenly attacked out of the blue and theres alot of Akiviri mods out there to use in conjunction with this. LoginToDownload
As far as my knowledge of the Construction Set goes, realistic photography would be impossible. One could create a camera item that, when activated, (preferably via a hotkey) sends a wide-angle invisible target spell (similar to area frost) forward-Or even multiple target spells in a certain spray so centering your 'shot' is important-accompanied by a *click* sound, and then scripted nasties for UndeadFaction. (Wouldn't include all-natural Will-o-The-Wisps, though) Having it use up 'film' wouldn't be too hard either. No picture would be saved, though, and in all honesty it might not be terribly "accurate", as I've never played Fatal Frame. If that's alright, perhaps I'll get around to it. No promises, though, I have quite a few projects right now. And suck at meshes. :(
Cine_eater
I think just making the camera a weapon would be good enough ( for undead only ), would it be possible to have just the Project Zero music playing when in the mansion, as I can supply the soundtrack for all 3 Project Zero's. Here's a few images of the camera obscura used in the game... Cine-eater.
TheTerminator2004
Firstly, what type of weapon would it be? You have to use one of the existing weapon animations, and none of them would really fit a camera... unless you want to hit the undead with it? Secondly, I don't think you could get it to play the music only in the mansion, and nowhere else, or not play any other music in the mansion, unless it can be done with scripting- I'm not 100% certain on that. Thirdly, even if there was a way, it would be illegal- the soundtrack will be copyrighted; therefore, you can't use it outside the game.
Cine_eater
Well I think Logintodownload idea would work best, when the camera is used it casts an invisible target spell straight forward towards where you are pointing ( perhaps make it work like the magic staffs do with ranged destruction spells ), if it is not to accurate thats fine as it would add an element of the unknown and make the fights more intense, as to the music I wasn't to sure as to the legality of using it.As far as the spirits in the mansion I think simple ghosts wouldn't be intense enough but I've come across spectral versions of people in Oblivion and thought that they would be perfect just mess up their features a bit more maybe having headless ones etc and make them a cetain level like exnem has with his armour mods. TheTerminator2004
It is possible to have an item that when activated could cast a spell, but target spells can only go in a straight line- you can't have them spread out at an angle. Also, I'm not even sure if it's possible to have an item cast a target spell at all.
Cine_eater
A straight line is fine, I was thinking the camera would act in the same way the staffs do, so when you use the attack button it casts the spell, also enchanted weapons have so many uses before they are empty and I was thinking there could be soul crstals made that act as film for the camera and recharge its magic. TheTerminator2004
You do realise that it would work the same as a normal damage health spell, don't you? In fact, I don't even know if it's possible to make spells invisible (though it should be), so it might even look the same as an ordinary damage health spell. This is of course assuming an ordinary item can cast a ranged spell. The recharging idea I think is possible, but I'm not really much of an expert on scripting, so I can't tell you how it would be done. Basically, it would only be able to harm one undead at a time, and would bear almost no resemblance to Project Zero at all.
TheTerminator2004
The only way you could use the staff animation was if it was an exceptionally long, thin, stick-shaped camera. The player would still hold, and use the item the same way- so the camera would be floating above the PC's hands, which would be in a position as if they were holding a staff, even if they weren't. Needless to say, this would look kind of stupid.
Cine_eater
Okay just making suggestions here I don't know anything about modding which is why I'm posting here, if you can think of an item or weapon that could work let me know.Maybe just have a camera shaped item in your hands but add a camera spell to your inventory that does what I suggested earlier with an invisible spell of some sort.
