TheTerminator2004
Hmm... the camera item, then a separate spell would work, though it wouldn't be entirely what you want... I'm not sure if this is possible, but maybe a camera item (you wouldn't be able to hold this in your hand, sorry) which is scripted so that when activated it would make the PC cast a certain spell- in this case, the new camera spell. The only problem with this approach is that you would be able to cast the spell any time anyway, without using the camera... maybe it would be possible to make the script add the spell, cast it, and then remove it again. That way, the player wouldn't be able to cast the spell without using the camera, but I'm not sure if that's possible... you'd have to ask abramul, or someone who knows a bit about scripting. The spell couldn't be invisible though, I don't think... it would have to look like an existing spell.
Cine_eater
Would it be possible to make it in the style of actors in charge so when you get the camera it adds the spells to your inventory and then removes the spell when you leave the manor and loose the camera. or Making the camera a wrist camera that goes on your sheild arm, so when you block the spell is cast and to avoid people just using there own spells making the ancestral ghosts immune to all spells apart from the camera spell. or Totally ignoring the camera and give your character an "Obscura" Shield that reflects a limited damage of the ghosts attacks and as you progress through the mansion you gain more types of "Obscura" armour also totally disable your magic bar to stop you using your own spells on the ghosts or limiting you to only your health spells and fortify spells, taking your weapons and armour from you leaving you just cloth items, I want this to hard and intense (for high level characters), maybe finding a painting of the mansion somewhere simialr to the painting mission in the game. When you defeat low level ghosts they could drop things like more health potions, repair hammers(obviously you will need to be a high enough character to repair magic items, maybe this could be a minimum setting to do the mission as well as a certain character level) and the boss ghosts for each section could drop keys to enter the next part of the mansion. Obviously there could be plenty of homage opertunities, involving shrines, diaries, strange rituals etc... you're obviously a fan like me and are interested in the possibility of this. Phew..... TheTerminator2004
Firstly, I've never actually played Project Zero- only the demo, and that was ages ago. Now... Your first idea could work- a better way to do it would be to add the camera as an item, and then when it's used it adds the spell, casts it, and then removes the spell again. It may take too long to add/remove the spell to really work, but it is a possibility. I don't know whether your second idea would work- I don't think shields can cast ranged spells. There may of course be a way of scripting this that I don't know about. Your third idea is a possibility, but it would take a lot more work than the other two, and would require a lot of new models, and tons of scripting. But all this is academic anyway, at least until someone with the needed skills comes along and offers to make it.
Cine_eater
With my first idea it would have to be hotkeyed to work, maybe when used it could pop a window up which offers a variety of film types with so many uses for each type and various degrees of damage done for each film type. Very true about this thread being academic, but you never know someone out there might be interested, hopefully these ideas might inspire someone. ;) I've got af ew other ideas that I might try out myself but being new to computers in general using the construction set seems a bit....well you know.Any good guides you can suggest? LoginToDownload
A spray would be easy enough using scripted spells (invisible too) and a large set of invisible activators. When the camera is activated, move all but one of the activators into a spray pattern in front of your character. Then have the last activator cast a scripted spell (That adds a real damage spell to UndeadFaction actors it hits) at each of the 'target' activators. With no collision they'll fly through and hit anything on the other side.
Cine_eater
Cheers to uou both for your suggestions and excuse my lack of understanding as far as the limitations to making mods, I'll check out CS wiki and you never know I might be able to put something up on this site rather than making suggestions all the time. :) Logintodownload if you are interested in this keep me updated :D Cheers Cine-eater.
