undrentide79
I'm not sure if it's been done before, but is it possible to actually make magic affect the environment in Oblivion? I remember playing Fable 1 and thinking how awesome it was to break windows using a particular spell (can't remember which one). Is it possible to do something similar in Oblivion, like, for example, freezing lakes with frost spells or igniting fireplaces with fire magic? Or is it impossible because of the game engine's limitations? Has it been attempted before?
bencebence
If you'd replace all objects, and remake physics it would be possible. But sadly physics is hard-coded.
LoofSquared
Breaking anything is quite impossible, freezing lakes and lighting up fireplaces is another thing. Now, freezing lakes, although possible, would be the harder of these two to accomplish (most probably) as there are many lakes and bodies of water, some too huge to simply do it. Freezing a lake would require an activator box the size of the lake, or many affecting to a same object, and an object (ice layer) that then is added to a pre-selected placing by a script when an ice type of spell passes through the activator, at least by my understanding. Lighting and dousing flames has already been done on some mods, although I cannot reference any as of now, blaming my bad memory. This could quite be done by simply replacing all the objects with a flame on them with activators resembling the object (unlit torches with an activator, with a script lighting them up when a fire spell hits them and dousing them when an ice spell hits), same with logs in fireplaces and braziers and such. I cannot do this though, I have a fairly limited knowledge of scripting myself, if someone would be willing to do it, I'm fully supporting the idea. undrentide79
Thanks for the info guys. It would be nice if it's possible to do more *ahem* creative things with magic :).
LushKills
I assume you've seen Midas Magic... you can do some impressive tricks with that, like turning dead bodies into gold or teleporting you and a rival to another realm... there are some spells that resemble Fable I spells also... like that divine circle one (i cant remember the name...) you can even walk along frozen paths that generate as you move.
