Compatibility Issue Please Help

In OBMM click Utilities>New Conflict Detector. That will bring up a pop up that includes exactly what entry is being overwritten. Alternatively, you can load both mods up in TES4Edit and use that to find the entry.

From there, you can do a number of things. You can manually alter your load order so that the one you want to supersede the other with is loaded second. You can edit the entries in either TES4Edit or the CS (be sure to make backups before changing anything in a plugin!). Or, you can do nothing, if it's a minor conflict that doesn't really cause any issues in your game then there's no need to worry about it.

They let topics stay on the board for quite some time as they may contain helpful information for others having similar issues. It's generally suggested to start a new topic with your issue instead of necroing an old thread as more people are likely to read the OP as opposed to scrolling through two pages of replies and finding someone else stating they have a similar problem.

That being said, I'm curious as to what went on in-game due to this compatibility issue that you decided to do away with one of your mods. Do you mind filling us in?

Alright that's good to know, thanks for the info. Regarding your question my "Umpa Disco" mod was preventing "Script Effect Icon Changer" from doing what it was supposed to do. So I had to pick one and I chose "Script Effect Icon Changer". I wanted to have a unique icon for script effects more then I wanted to make people dance. Although it was very funny when the Imperial Watch did Caramelldansen.

Using OBMM or Wrye Bash you just bump them up or down in the list of mods. Once setting your load order don't open the Data Files section of the Oblivion Launcher or it will reset the load order to be sorted by date.

Once you have a handful of mods going, BOSS can be very helpful. It automatically sorts your load order based on a frequently updated masterlist. It's not 100% perfect so you may have to do a few by hand, but it's still a lot better than trying to figure it all out on your own.

Additionally, make sure you run BSA Redirection in OBMM or Wrye Bash one time. This will make sure that texture and animation replacers take precedent over the ones that come in a Vanilla Oblivion install. If you have the Steam version of Oblivion you may need to use File Date Changer to roll back the "last modified" dates on all of the .bsa archives that come with a vanilla install to ensure Redirection works properly.
