Need help with crashing/freezing.

ok grinded im sorry i jumped like that. but yes i understand that i have a lot of junk on my computer and the reason i have so little space on my HD is i have a lot of games that i have on my HD. im slowly going through and un-installing them to free up room. i now only have 3 games on this comp, fallout new vegas takes 8gb 1 other takes 15gb with all its expansions and the last takes only 4gb so i freed up 11gb from un-installing 6 other games that took little room and another 5gb from some random stuff.

 

the reason my l3codecx.ax might be the cuase is that i have not updated it if at all possible. i still have it i just moved it to my desktop so it wont be loaded when i play NV. in my time of playing NV tonight i have not crashed once so far. it is so stable right now i re-installed increased wasteland spawns witch some ppl say is unstable in the latest patch but has not given me any problems what so ever (except the occasional extra giant radscorpions with my level 4).

 

ok now that is done. grinded i said in my second post i DID play the vanilla game back when i first installed it and played it for the first month. i did not know you could mod the game till i found some people posting good mods on youtube and found a video that had a link here. however i did know about this site a long time ago as i use to run oblivion. why my join date is what it is. P.S. i also had the same crash problem in oblivion. while i was playing vanilla i always crashed 10-30min of playing no matter what i was doing. i stopped playing some time around february becuase i got tired of all the crashing mods or no mods.

 

i only started playing again this monday hoping that the patches they released would make the game more stable but it did not. so i started looking for help all over the place and it turned out that sorting through the message telling me it needed to close and the info that pops up i found it said that l3codecx.ax cuased the problem so i looked at what it was online and moved it out of the folder and now i dont crash. i still have 15-23fps becuase my processor but i dont crash now. i get the occasional freeze while im loading something but i went from crashing every 10-30min to almost no problems at all after i moved it out of my system folder.

 

right now the only codecs that i have on my computer (that i know of) is anything auto installed from windows media player and divx player.

 

funny how BOSS hasnt been updated for Lonesome Road.esm yet put it at the bottom of my esm list. Mods:

im not getting any problems from my mods.

 

since i removed the l3codecx.ax drom my system folder i have only crashed once and that was when NVSE had a error. iv been playing for 3+ hours at a time with no problems. so the problem lies with l3codecx.ax for me as my game is super stable now.

If you wanna do a pretty good clean-up of your PC without re-installing the OS then just try Auslogics BoostSpeed 5. I use it myself and it is well worth it. Cleans out your PC nicely and has a ton of improvements options/tips/features. (Such as disabling unused Windows Services like Smart Card services)
