'Wearing' two weapons at once.

Hey all!

I've been looking around for a particular type of mod, but I'm not sure where to look, OR if such as thing has even been done before.

I've seen a few "Shield on back" mods, where the shield is put on the player's back when unequipped, instead of disappearing into their inventory or being held on the arm by the player's side. My question is, are there any mods that will have a similar effect, but on weapons? For example, are there any mods which will allow my character to pull out a bow and use it, but later switch to a knife and pull it out while still keeping the bow I had previously equipped on my character's back?

I have two characters, one who uses a special knife and a bow, and one who uses a Claymore and a Single-handed sword. Is there any way to have both weapons "show" on my character, regardless of which one is equipped? Its rough to switch weapons, and have the weapon you were previously using suddenly disappear into your inventory.

Obviously something like this is purely an aesthetic improvement, but its something that has always bugged me, so I thought I'd go and ask people if any mods exist, or if not, how to make one if its not too complicated a process.

I've not seen any, and I don't think they do exist. Its pretty hard to make too. You can achieve the effect (for aesthetics) by copying the model of a weapon onto a piece of armor, but then its just a bit of armor that looks like a weapon. It will stay there when you change weapons to whatever, and you can't draw (unsheathe) it.

That's essentially correct. The game just isn't setup to allow more than one weapon to equip at any one time. You might still be able to do what Sypron describes, and use some scripting to make the transition look less unusual, but that would really require setting up armor versions of all weapons, and filling one of the very few slots that aren't being used with those versions. Add to it the fact that it wouldn't work with modded/enchanted weapons, would require a rather complicated script to control it all, and would probably hurt your framerate some, and it really isn't worth the effort.

Cool, thanks for the replies. I have some experiance with modding other games, so I expected it to be a pretty difficult task, but I thought I might as well ask ;). There are a lot of guys out there who have done some pretty amazing things with Oblivion.
