neptuneuk
I've recently reinstalled new vegas (for the new DLC)And the textures look absolutely awful. I've googled about and most issues like this have been resolved by people using CCC to edit their ATI mipmap settings. I have a GTX 570 though and I have been through my Nvidia options and made sure everything is set to quality.I have installed the medium NMC textures. Checked archive invalidation in FOMM.Set graphics to the HIGHEST quality.Tried installing new weapon textures (doesn't work) What do I do?

If not, I'd say trying reinstalling using one of those programs. If nothing else, it'll make uninstalling and troubleshooting any texture issues a lot easier. Also, your card should be able to handle the NMC high textures. It's worth a try. Edited September 21, 2011 by xaliqen
neptuneuk
Thanks for the reply. When I installed NMC medium, they came as loose files and so I could not see how FOMM could be used in the installation. I will carefully try to install the high res NMC pack and see how it goes. edit: Derp. Im gonna use FOMM to install NMC high res But still. The default textures should be much better than they are if they're meant to be set to high. Something is very wrong. GothikaGeist
I had this before, but it was MUCH worse. Heh, I also had it happen to me after re-insalling New Vegas a couple times. I never fixed it though, I just built a custom PC and now I can max out this game completely without a hiccup :D
neptuneuk
I had this before, but it was MUCH worse. Heh, I also had it happen to me after re-insalling New Vegas a couple times. I never fixed it though, I just built a custom PC and now I can max out this game completely without a hiccup :DThanks for replying, however upgrading my hardware is not going to fix this issue.I HAVE a custom built PC (built it myself last week and so have a fresh install of windows 7) and I have self-built all my PCs for the past 4-5 years. And I know it's not a hardware issue as I used the exact same GTX 570 months ago when last playing Vegas. edit: OK I seem to have sorted the problem by installing the high res NMC texture pack, reinstalling the nvidia drivers, and removing and reinstalling all the mods I was using ( pretty much consisting of FOOK, NVskies, NMC textures, various sound & music mods and enhanced shaders)But because I did all of this at once before testing I'm still not sure what exactly fixed the problem. The texture problem started BEFORE I installed the mods (fresh install of windows last week) so unless it was a dodgy driver issue I'm still stumped as to how and why it happened. I know by googling that a lot of other people had similar problems but they seemed to mostly be related to ATI Catalyst settings. For anyone technically minded, if you can think of a good reason as to what caused and fixed this then you could possibly help other people out in the future. Things to note: 1) The specs I am running: Phenom II hex 3.2ghz, 2x4Gb DDR3 1800, KFA2 GTX 570 1280mb, running Windows 7 SP1 x64.2) I installed FO:NV from a steam backup file3)It's possible the FOMM installation may have corrupted somehow as I had an crash when starting the program at some point until I uninstalled, then redownloaded and installed it again. (Reinstalling from the same file still gave me the error)4) My GFX card was (and still is) overclocked a fair amount (even though it doesn't need to be for FO, I leave it like this at startup by default for other apps) In my eyes the bad textures could either be related to a) The steam backup being poorb) FOMM relatedorc) An Nvidia driver issue Edited September 21, 2011 by neptuneuk
