Nutronic
Hey, I'm a bit new here, but after playing Oblivion for sometime I had a couple Mod Ideas that might be worth discussing. The first one being a compilation mod. Something that uses all the current Body mods out there and combines them into one and redisributes them randomly (or accordingly) to Npcs through out the game. I think a Mod like this would really save the hassle of choosing a body amoung the big 3 (right?) not to mention it would add a bit of depth to the game when it comes to varying chracters. My second idea is a music mod (better yet a modders resource) that makes Music context sensitive beyond the main sound folders. I don't know if anyone's noticed but to me (at least) whenever I face a boss in Oblvion, my music seems to sound a little... more epic? Perhaps a I'm crazy, or hearing things, but I think the game already alters both pitch, and tone to make music more dramtic when you enter a boss fight. And I think it even works with custom songs. If not and I am crazy, a mod that either chooses which songs, or allows modders to choose which songs best suit a context (I.E. X amount of enemies, Mini bosses, Easter egg battles, or morning, noon, night, etc). Either way, I'm just wondering if it's possible, or been tried? Either way, I'm no modder (obviously) however I'd like to help if I can (have a bit of photoshop exp, not mention I can make menu Icons since I'm a fairly competent spriter), but I think it just be good to get some feedback on these ideas, or perhaps even someone willing to take up the challenge. dangle
the idea of the different bodies has been pondered over, and i think the decision was that however cool it would be to have a little variety, it wuld just be too hard.

All races have the exact same body mesh. Period. Change one, and you change them all.
Vagrant0
the idea of the different bodies has been pondered over, and i think the decision was that however cool it would be to have a little variety, it wuld just be too hard.By too hard you mean impossible, right? All races have the exact same body mesh. Period. Change one, and you change them all.Not impossible, just very hard, and just wouldn't work to any effect that people would want. Basically, yes, all races use the same body type, so you would have to force equipment which looks like a specific body type depending on what race was wearing it. This requires two things which require alot of time and effort. You would need meshes to represent all the different body types for EVERY piece of equipment which would be affected by them. While most of that is already done, you would also have to set them up in the CS in a way which could be controlled effectivly through scripting, and attach seperately coded (for each individual item) to all variations of those items, for ALL worn items. In short, lots and lots, and LOTS of scripting, trying to keep the values straight. Once you have that done, you have another problem. The moment any NPC wears anything, they will instantly have that item replaced with one designed for their "body type". This would quite likely just cause the game to freeze up on startup due to the sheer number of scripts being used. This also doesn't address issues with different skin tones (as none of the body types use the same method of mapping and only one skin can exist for comon races), or when the NPC is naked. Not impossible, just totally impractical for anyone to make, or use. You could do it, but you wouldn't like the results.
Nutronic
Thanks for all the replys. I guess it does look like a whole lot of work, but does every piece of equipment have to be effected? As far as I know I thought form fitting body armor and clothing were optional attactments for most of the current body mods. Either way though, it seems like the biggest problem is that all races share the same body. It makes me wonder if there might be someway to assign each race it's own body type. Although my orginal Idea was that each individual would have a different body type based upon what they do in game. But, I'm not blind/deaf, and I get it's hard to do, so most likely no one is going to pick it up. It would be nice, so I guess I'll look into it a bit more. Btw, any opinions on the "Music mod"? Nutronic
~BUMP~Sorry for the double post, but I didn't want to make a new topic when I still had this one... Are there any Tail ring Mods out there besides the Gothic shop II Beta? My game is buggy enough, and I'd like to avoid using the Testing Hall if possible. If not, would it be too much to ask some one to cobble together a mod with only the Tail rings that I could get out of a chest or something? Thanks! You could do it, but you wouldn't like the results. Breeze was working on something similar with Bodyshapes and in fact did say he had a working prototype for multiple races using token equippage and folders - the scripts look for a folder named "Argonian Body" or something similar that's in the right place and use armor and body parts from that. Sadly, he only released a version allowing the player character to have a different body from everyone else, not a multiple-race version. I for one would have put up with a few visual bugs to have more than one race in my game.
