Cine_eater
Cine-eater again, I am currently using the Budoka race mod and was wondering if I download the Jaffa race whether this would effect the Budoka one (my friend wants to start a game as a Jaffa), I understand that you can use only one character race at a time but would having the Jaffa race effect anything.Basicly can you have a selection of races to choose from without them effecting each of their meshes and textures. LoginToDownload
Having multiple race-mods active will, under normal circumstances, cause no trouble whatsoever. I'm not 100% sure about Budoka/Jaffa, but I wouldn't worry.
Vagrant0
Having multiple race-mods active will, under normal circumstances, cause no trouble whatsoever. I'm not 100% sure about Budoka/Jaffa, but I wouldn't worry. You mean will cause trouble 100% of the time... Normal circumstances or not. Every race mod conflicts with every other race mod because they all change a similar setting in the CS... RACES. One mod will usually always break the other mod, or just cause the game to crash. The only exception to this is that if you only have one enabled at a time... Then as long as they don't modify the same resources (things installed to your data folder), and don't have their load order changed in relation to other mods (meaning that if it's the 14th mod loaded when you start, it needs to always be the 14th loaded mod.) you might be able to get away with just disabling one while your friend plays, then disabling the other when you play. But as any change to resources or loading order of that race mod can cause significant problems, it isn't advised. The other option would be to manually merge both mods into a single mod (like what beautiful people does). Since both races exist in the same mod, there can't be any major conflicts. This however requires fair knowledge of the CS and what goes into a race, And depending on what mods you're trying to combine, you may really have your work cut out for you. And please don't answer unless you know what you're talking about. Using multiple race mods is one of the difinitive no-no's of oblivion modding. No matter how you try, short of what I just said, you will only have errors. Even mods that just tweak races can cause other race mods to become broken. Cine_eater
Sounds like its wise not to risk this unless someone knows if the mods resources wil notl overwrite the other, merging the mods is totally beyond me at the moment as I haven't tried out making a mod yet. Cheers Cine-eater.
LoginToDownload
I've never had any trouble with five-some new races added at once, so it's safe to say I'm talking from experience. You're saying every single race-mod is incompatible with MMM? EDIT: I tried using one mod, then the other, then creating one save-game with each race. No problems, though Budoka gives the player (Regardless of race) some oriental clothing when starting in jail.
Cine_eater
Did you try out the Jaffa race in the list you tried out?
LoginToDownload
That's what I meant by one, then the other; Budoka, then Jaffa. Though I never actually tried leaving the prison cell, they both had their proper powers (or lack thereof) and abilities separate from one-another.
