Problem with mods.

Not much info to go on here.

I'm going to throw out a guess though based on you are new to this.

I'm guessing you have either Vista or Win7 and have installed to the default location - which is 'protected' by Windows UAC. UAC seems to think mods are malware and blocks them from taking effect - without bothering to tell you.

You could just disable UAC, but that leaves a back door open for viruses to take over your computer.

UAC only affects those programs installed in the Program files folders, and games are typically not vectors for virus infections and really don't need the extra protection from UAC.

Best solution - uninstall and reinstall outside of the UAC protected 'program files' folders.

All of my games are installed to C:\Games\game_name So Oblivion is in C:\Games\Oblivion

Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the WIKI section of the Nexus

http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Oblivion_reinstall_procedure

It allows you to preserve any saves and mods, or remove them completely - your choice.

Note: Steam is covered also.

For some obscure reason, Microsoft 'fixed' Win7 so that just because you are the administrator, you may not have admin privileges to a program until you enable admin privileges to it. Even if you are the administrator.http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/wallbash.gif

And enabling admin privileges for a particular program means you only geyt admin privilages for that one program. You STILL must set every program to be allowed by UAC. So, any time you try to install a new utility program, a mod update or anything else - you will have at least two extra steps to do. Right click on the program name, and left click on the 'Run as an Administrator' - unless you either remove UAC altogether - giving some viruses a free pass. OR move the games out of the protected folders qand never have to mess with it again.

And if you are like me, you will forget that the next time you try to set something up and end up screaming at the computer for not letting you do what you want to do instead of forcing protection that isn't needed on you. http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/facepalm.gif
