kinglarsi
When does the Steam version of OBSE come out? Edited September 27, 2011 by kinglarsi
DrakeTheDragon
Pardon? It is already out. The last releases of OBSE "all" were Steam-compatible.It's just you don't use the "obse_loader.exe" for Oblivion from Steam but the special "obse_steam_loader.dll" coming with the download which was specifically created to make OBSE working with Steam a long, long while ago.As I said I can't really tell how exactly it is working with Steam, but it happens automatically and has something to do with enabling the Steam community ingame or whatever it is. It is all documented in the OBSE install instructions though:IF YOU ARE USING THE STEAM VERSION OF OBLIVION: 1. Copy obse_1_2_416.dll, obse_editor_1_2.dll, and obse_steam_loader.dll to your Oblivion directory. This is usually "C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\common\oblivion".2. Ensure you have enabled the Steam community in-game, or OBSE will fail to load. Go to Steam > Settings > In-Game and check the box marked "Enable Steam Community In-Game".3. Launch Oblivion via Steam or by running Oblivion.exe. OBSE will automatically be run along with Oblivion when launched. To disable this, rename or move obse_steam_loader.dll. You do not need to use obse_loader.exe unless you are running the editor.
bben46
There is no special version of OBSE just for steam. The ONLY difference is one dll. Here is the install instructions copied verbatim from the obse_readme.txt that is included with the download - You still need to read the readme as this is just a small part. There is a troubleshooting/FAQ section in the readme that you need to read if you are having problems. IF YOU ARE USING THE STEAM VERSION OF OBLIVION: 1. bben46
If the mod you mean is unnecessary violence, that is one of the more difficult mods to get working. It helps if you have a little experience installing various types of mods before tackling that one. And, you actually have to read and understand the installation instructions then follow them very closely. Just looking at the instructions and trying to install it like it was any other mod will fail.
