And that is precisely why I drive a car from 1974 so it doesn't include all the computer crap. And that it's a better car. Nobody can shut off my car or track me remotely using just the stuff in it.

I got a '99 Honda Civic with 180,000+ on it. Here's hoping it lasts for another 200,000. http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/biggrin.gif

Oh it will, it will :P Good old Honda. My uncle had a 90 Accord...think it had like 250k miles on it before he got rid of it. Here's hoping our Honda Fit lasts that long :D

I'm glad our car doesn't have that OnStar crap. That's rather creepy...but I just saw recently an update that they will NOT do that if you cancel service:

Good on them they decided to change that...has lawsuit written all over it if they kept it the way it was.

I did like that bit in the article about the opt-out society. Companies sometimes won't even bother telling you what they're doing, leaving you powerless because you don't know. They'll bury it in a badly-worded phrase in a huge block of text and you'll never see it. Anyone remember the uproar earlier about Blizzard's Warden client? When you installed World of Warcraft, it's installed to your computer as well. Tracked what you were doing. And you couldn't remove it without some real technical expertise.

How the hell do you lock your keys in the car in the first place? both of my front doors unlock if you close them with the lock on, I assume most cars do that. I wouldn't want that thing if they offered to pay me, I certainly wouldn't pay to be followed around. Ours doesn't. Poor bf accidentally locked his keys in the car when he was coming back from the gas station during a break :( Luckily, I keep the spare key on my keychain and we had a buddy that could give me a ride over to his work.

Isn't it only GM vehicles that have OnStar? Crap cars gotta have crap service I guess :P Just get yourself AAA and a prepaid cell phone...probably a heck of a lot cheaper than OnStar.
