Arielfall
Hey Guys I have the steam version of F:NV and I'm having some weird performance issue. I've got the latest update 1.4 but I still have low GPU usage and frame rates. I tried the D3D9.DLL any way and have the 4GB and fake full screen mods. No improvements. Computer specs AMD 1100T @ 3.7 Ghz HD 6850 8 GB of ram @ 1600 MHz In highly populated NPC areas I'm getting around 30 fps with the graphics set to medium at about 40% gpu usage ( it defaulted to low when I first launched?!?!) Out doors near a big camp I can't remember the name of I did get as high as 70%. Also tried the toggleemotions command with no fps increase. I downloaded a mod that had a night vision goggles mode that increased my GPU usage in the same area up 10 % more but I still got EXACTLY the same frame rate. For some reason it seems it could do more but doesn't. There is no bottlenecking anywhere my CPU usage is normally low usage and I can get 99% GPU usage in other games. I did O.C. my CPU to 4 Ghz with no difference. Also over or underclocking my GPU does nothing to the frame rate. Literally cutting my clock speeds in half with no changes. Aside from the wonky frame rates the game runs great never had a CTD. Any one have any ideas please?
luthienanarion
A 6850 should not default to low, as my 5770 defaults to Ultra with all settings maxed. Remove any D3D9 files you placed in the New Vegas directory, because they were made obsolete by one of the game patches. Does the launcher options menu detect your graphics card as a 6850 or as something else?

Arielfall
Also tried disabling Vsync and running on Ultra settings I get the same frame rate just a little more GPU usage. Could it be a game engine clash with a newer graphics card than the game???
GothikaGeist
Also tried disabling Vsync and running on Ultra settings I get the same frame rate just a little more GPU usage. Could it be a game engine clash with a newer graphics card than the game??? I don't think so, I'm running an AMD Radeon 6750 and I default to Ultra with maxed out settings as well.
