dpcollier128
I use OBMM to start oblivion. I use some omods, but nothing that I haven't used before I reinstalled the game. I use a dual-monitor setup, but I used that before the reinstall as well. I tried running the game without plug-ins, but it doesn't seem to eliminate the lagging. And the other screen that isn't running oblivion seems to flicker right before the lagging starts. Help me please!
Crisb92
You may have done this, but after any big installation, which Oblivion most definitely is, you will want to do a complete system defrag, and possibly any other hard drive/ registry cleaning as well. Programs such as Ccleaner and Diskkeeper should help you there, both free. If this is not the case, then it may well be what is happening to me, and which is POing me greatly, good luck and have fun, Cris. Oh, and try and remember if you were using any performance enhancers such as streamline or Oblivion Polygon Overhaul, they do help slightly. Well, that helped a little bit but now the lagging goes on and off. And it doesn't lag when I'm in the ESC menu, the inventory menu, or when I look in chests. The flickering of the second screen almost heralds the lagging's onset. I did do a complete defrag and a registry cleanup, but it doesn't go away. Any more advice? TheTerminator2004
Do you have any programs you didn't have before? Quite a lot of stuff for Windows carries on running in the background, even when it doesn't need to, so that could be the cause of the problem. Also, you could try this guide, that is full of useful tips for getting your computer to run faster. This one is also good for improving Oblivion's speed.
