Distrance
So, someone was nice enough to post a list of mods that I should get for Oblivion. As he used them, I figured they would be compatible. I installed them all, and now Oblivion just crashes right on startup, before the Bethesda Softworks logo even comes up. Please don't tell me I need to reinstall Oblivion and ALL of the damn mods AGAIN. I'm new to the modding so I may have just f***ed up somewhere.. Anyhow, here's my load order, can someone check it? And yes, I ran it thru BOSS and it doesn't come up with anything. Additonally, perhaps related to this, there's a problem with TES4LODGEn. It just comes up with error about how some Deadly Reflex esp. should be loaded before other Deadly Reflex esp., even though they're already loaded exactly in that order. NikhilR
Considering this looks to be an Fcom install, are you using Wyre Bash? I don't see a bashed patch. You will need it to get your fcom install working. Also did you use OBMM to install your mods? Some links to help you out on wyre bash http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/204417-quick-help-about-boss-wrye-bash-and-bashed-patch/(check the links within) download Wyre bash from here, http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22368 installation is complicated so please read the official readme. now for the fcom install itself first go through this link, http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1079933-50-steps-to-ctd-almost-free-fcom-game/ Then correlate with this thorough step by step guide. http://tescosi.com/wiki/Oblivion:FCOM_Installation_Guide Please post after reading through these links if you have any doubts we're here to help. Also since you're new to modding, don't panic, I running an FCOM install myself and its worth getting it working. Distrance
I used OBMM to create the load order, as i could not figure out how to post my Wrye Bash load order here. But the bashed patch is present in Wrye, and I have rebuilt it after using BOSS but it still doesn't work.

But the bashed patch is present in Wrye, and I have rebuilt it after using BOSS but it still doesn't work. To post the load order from wyre bash, right click on the files tab and choose list mods. Copy paste the list here (with code/spoiler tags), I'll compare our load orders and see what's wrong. Also while rebuilding the bashed patch in the menu that opens up have you checked the appropriate fields and the boxes within? i.e. say the merge patches field. Check the box besides the name (merge patches) on the left and every single box in the field to the right (the plugins in question) Edited October 3, 2011 by NikhilR

Now, when I go to options, there's this black % and numbers shown before each bar, but they're way too large and overlap with the bar / bar name, and when I go to load game, all the load names are overlapping with each another? You're load order seems to be fine.w.r.t darnified UI, did you use OBMM to install it. It comes with an install script, which requires you to pick the font you want and then accept the changes made to the oblivion.ini file (which it does automatically)
Keirgarth
Did you test the game to be sure it was still working after you installed each mod? This is very important, especially with a lot of mods being put into the game as any one of them could have a problem during install which would make the game unplayable. You won't need to reinstall the game, unless you have your game installed in the default location and are using Vista or Windows 7, but it would be advisable to get back to a vanilla game and install one at a time to test. You can revert to vanilla by following the information here: http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Revert_to_vanilla_data When you go to install all of your mods, load order isn't the only thing that needs to be paid attention to. You also need to pay attention to install order as this will determine what is going to over write what. There are overlaps on a couple of the mods that make up the FCOM setup so be careful and read twice, install once. I will say I run the uFCOM install and I had to reinstall at least 15 times before I was able to get things working stable, it takes work, but it is worth it in my opinion. :) Edited October 3, 2011 by Keirgarth
Distrance
I installed it manually as I did not have OBMM at the time. Regarding OBMM by the way, are all archives OBMM compatible? Later after I installed OBMM, I just loaded each archive straight into it though not all of them specifically said that they were OBMM ready. If my load order is fine, why does it still crash? I also used OBMM to install Qarl's Texture pack which might not be visible in the load order .. I think?

Load an Omod file thats already been prepared using OBMM (file ends with .omod)B Create an omod. you need an archive for this. Most mods are supplied in an OMOD ready format. Some have scripts attached to them (like darnified UI) When you click create, and choose an archive to load (browse for it) it might say somthing about multiple directories, you can ignore that with the mod's your using and if it says"omod conversion data is available" always accept. Then click create, and the omod will be available in your list. Now you have to install it, i.e add it to the game.double click and if a script is available you'll have options that you can pick.once done run BOSS. Also download archive invalidation, invalidatedhttp://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10724 Install this first, it bypasses a procedure you have to follow using OBMM (if you don't have it) which tells the game which textures to load first from the meshes/texture folders and .bsa archives. with respect to what keigarth saidIndeed that step is important "AT THIS POINT I TURN OFF ALL MODS (i.e. unchecked them in Wrye Bash or /and OBMM) except Oblivion.esm. This is essential step. Don’t skip it if you don’t want to see hanging arrows in the air, missing land masses, purple textures, bizarre NPC behaviour and so on. Otherwise you will be victim of the ‘Multiple Mod Activation’ phenomenon. If you haven't defragmented your hard disk already (I did it after installing Oblivion + SI +DLC and again after FCOM basic), now is the time to do it before you start playing in serious!" there is however one option which worked for me. You might want to give it a go before you start over. Fcom final savehttp://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=33250 Download the save file and put it in your saves directory "C:\Users\(your name)\Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves"then in wyre bash right click on the save and click load masters. Now load this save when you start up the game and then save again in another slot. This will save you quite a lot of time,Then activate any unactivated mods (which are not part of fcom, like All natural, unique landscapes) as necessary. This is how you activateone to three at a time, load the save you made, open console type - "save (name of your save file) 1"then type "qqq" to quit to desktop. now activiate next one/three .esp plugins (so on and so forth) You can try this save and see if it works, else if you plan to reinstall using OBMM its best to start over using the guides I posted links to.But try using the save to skip the one plugin at a time activation process before you start over. Distrance
The thing is, if i load a mod that is not OBMM ready and thus doesn't contain conversion data, can I still use OBMM to install the archive through Create => Add Archive? Cause that's what I did so I was wondering if that broke the game. Anyway I think I'm just gonna reinstall all mods as soon as I receive a reply whether using OBMM is okay (manual installation was so annoying..). And about '' "AT THIS POINT I TURN OFF ALL MODS '' part.. When do I need to do this? And what do I need to do with the archive invalidation and when?
