reisalomao
I need to share my thoughts... When I was a computer with a low setting, dreamed of playing Morrowind. But then I got to work in a video store and bought an Xbox. Only some time later I managed to install (although I was very layman) Morrowind on the PC. I spent much time just setting up, installing mods, resetting, fixing this and that and in the end played very little. There Oblivion released, but was out of my reach. My machine was not able to run it. Some time ago I gave an update on my machine: Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93GHz 4 GB DDR2 Windows 7 Ultimate x64 GTS 250 1GB Now I can play Oblivion with many mods, but still with some lag and I searched for weeks and dawns solution and found almost nothing that was really useful. Maybe because it's a little game optimized for current settings. I learned something: Buy games after they were released, and still search the forums on game performance. I fear, I fear with all my heart that Skyrim be released containing many little bugs and being optimized for computer. In view of the Island Dead and Rage, which was a port failure, I fear even more than Skyrim fall for this wave of games made for ultra good machine and still bugged. They need to understand that it is essential to optimize a game so that more players have access to the game and therefore buy. I really do not (not anymore, i have no time) want to be, thoroughly, looking for solutions on google and forums to fix things that could have been avoided in game development. Much less want to be downloading patches and fixes, upgrading hardwares and softwares, defrag, gamebooster and more. Worse than that is the old configuration .ini , this took nights and more nights of sleep ... I know the two games mentioned above do not belong to the same company. But still makes me anxious to see myself again without being able to play a game as expected. Thanks, I had to be talked about all this. lukertin
My computer is a 7.5yr old Dell, Pentium 4 3ghz processor with 2gb ddr2 ram and an nVidia 8600 card (replacing one of the first PCIe gpus ever made). Now I've played WoW, HL2, DA:O, DA2, TW1 & 2, FO3, FO3NV, SC2 and even Crysis (yes, I ran one of the most demanding games made on this piece of crap) while dual monitor'd on this soon to be doorstop that is so overdue for replacement that just a month ago was giving me boot-up BSoDs due to some unidentified motherboard problem. Even if I didn't get a new computer by 11/11 I wouldn't have any concern with it not being able to run Skyrim...lol why are you so concerned? natelovesyou
When I was a computer with a low setting/thread But seriously, why worry SO much? You fear with all your heart...got it. What did you hope to accomplish by making a thread about this? I don't think Bethesda is going to repeat Oblivion again. It's not Oblivion 2.0, it's the fifth Elder Scrolls game. rowtjack07
When it comes to computer, do not update regualary. You see the consoles are 6 years old nearly and they are struggeling to run the latest games, and when they are released they are released for the consoles, so that means less graphics that is potential. Ofcourse you can get AA, Antischopic Thiltering, and higher reolutions on the PC but very little.Crysis wasn't even released on the consoles becacuse it was too demanding, and still is.So in short, if you stay a few years ahead of the consoles you will be fine. I usually update my comuter comepletly every four years, and when I do I make big updates. My previous computer was about 1 tenth of the power of my current one, and I got this one this year.As for the bugs, well the developers want to make as much money as possible, so they put less attention into the graphics and engine and just make it quick and accesable for the consoles, since it is the mass income section.Ultimatlely, inless developers see the true potential of PCs, games will always be years behind where they could, graphics and stabability wise. Matthew293
How can you even say that RAGE is a port failure? It hasn't been out for more then a few days. I don't care if Skyrim is better optimized on xbox, because my machine can afford to play a poorly optimized game and still eat that s*** up as a snack. I can always get a gamepad and mods too. I'm sorry for coming off like an ass, but you can't call RAGE out just yet.
hector530
RAGE IS NOT DEVELOPED BY BETHESDA. Someone had to say also as one of the few who has that game working. It's a awesome game. Problems will be patched soon unlike dead island which STILL hasn't gotten patched. I'm not worried, rages whole problem was that it had no video settings and skyrim doesn't use idtech 5.
