NahBdi
Can't for the life of me find a guide as all mods seem to have a different approach. Also, many mods need mods that need more mods to work, creating a exponential amount of work, all have very basic instructions that leave what the author would think was obvious but to a new user to nexus and all modding for fallout I am at a loss. I would like to get ANY mod to work but I cant get anyone of them to not crash when loading my game. Tried ED-E sounds, weapons, Dimonized skins, mods pack...all crash, seem to have something very basic missing from instructions missing. Can someone show me a Very simple easy to understand mod that I can begin with to see what I am doing wrong?
monshael
i don't know much about mods either, but here's what i learned so far: - all the mods i've downloaded so far (for New Vegas) are archived. Usually there's only one archive which contains all the files needed to use the mod, but sometimes there are patches and other stuff in separate downloads.- most mods more than often are made out of 3 things: -> "Meshes" folder, which i think contains the models of what a mod adds (weapons, armor, buildings etc) -> "Textures" folder, which most likely contains, well, the textures making what the mod adds look like what it looks like in-game -> .esp and/or . esm file, which is the core of the mod. This file is the one that links what the modder created to what's in the game and/or modifies values of pretty much anything in it, if that's what the modder intends to do. (ex: a mod that modifies the amount of weight you can carry should only contain an .esp file that only modifies the in-game values of you carrying capacity.) there are also some mods in .fomod type of file. these kind of files are actually archives that contain the above and are usually handled by the FOMM Mod Manager. (read its help files for more on how to use it) ... (out of time) ... day later edit: yesterday i was kinda rushed and did not read the title right. sorry for confusing your need for knowing how to mod with a need to knowing how to use a mod.
