Skyviper086
I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong when it comes to landscaping. I can level some territory out and when I go check it out on the game my character is running around on the flat part however slight hills can still be seen but my character can run through those. Its like they aren't there but at the same time they are there. Also when I placed some objects half of them appeared while the other half were just gone. Any ideas on how I can fix this? LordGawaine
Make sure that you're character isn't *inside* some type of hill or mountain you've placed. That could be one problem... ie: if you're loading your game and your last save location was inside of something you've placed.
Skyviper086
Okay thank you. I'll do that. Its always the simple stuff that gets me.
Korodic
Actually... if you are inside of the original NV wasteland, there is a thing called "LOD" that is pre-generated (your computer WILL crash if you try to regenerate it with your changes...) and if you try to lower land or alter land, you may sometimes dip below the LOD that is originally hidden underneath the land. The LOD's purpose is if you are really far away, but nothing is blocking you from seeing that land, then it loads a very low res. texture that resembles the land that you would be seeing in the distance, to prevent lag and promote smoother gameplay. It is hard to avoid this in certain situations and limits your potential w/ the wasteland itself.
davidlallen
That is correct. This is why few/no released mods alter the landscape. Instead, put one hatch in the ground and put your mod underground. Or, put it in a separate worldspace with a train ride to get there.
Skyviper086
I'll guess I'll work with small patch of territory I can work with then. Thanks everyone for your help. I'll try some things out and get back to you. Once again thank you.
