One Handed vs Two-Handed

We obviously won't know until we see the final perks and can assess what damage caps are in place, and how things scale. But, consider this.

 

A 2-handed Sword user does additional critical strike damage. You can then specialize to make all sprinting power attacks automatically crit.

 

This means that if you build a character almost purely on damage and stamina, you could effectively sprint around the room crit-shotting opponents. I believe you'd have to sacrifice defense on a build like this, but if your mobility is high enough (unarmored or light armored) you could do quite a bit of hit-and-run style damage which would have considerably more burst then dual-wield.

 

I'm really hoping there are no artificial caps on damage potential (like in Oblivion) so I can literally build a character based purely on speed and the ability to hit extremely hard with charge.

 

Lets also not forget that there is a perk that lets you do a cleave-style attack when doing sideways power attacks with 2handed weapons.

 

I think for a brawler style character, 2-handed won't be as strong. Or for some kind of hybrid melee/caster. But, I'm a pretty firm believer that you'll be able to create an extremely high burst-damage character with 2handed weapons based on the information provided so far. Obviously only time will tell...
