LivewareCascade
Anybody willing to help? I've been playing around with some weapon mods that I downloaded off here, and I've got a few bugs with the specularity of weapons, etc. I've made a youtube video here that should show the bugs I'm havinghttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MvbPq3lumw If anybody is half decent at texturing or with nifskope, I could really use a hand. Thanks.
Septfox
Eh, I've been up all night so don't expect anything too intelligent out of me, however... Have you checked the weapons' nifs to make sure the material settings on the holosight housing and the gun itself are identical? Mismatched Glossiness and Specular colors *might* make this happen (though I think Specular is overridden by the texture's normal map, not sure). Checking the one mod I know of that uses that particular holosight model (an AK-47 mod), I've already found that the Glossiness on the sight housing is 100, while on the gun it's set to 70. What you're seeing might be the result of a bigger mismatch. In any case, checking it is as simple as copying the Material from the holosight's branch in the nif and pasting it over the Material in the gun's branch, hitting save, cracking open the game. Also make sure that you have the normal maps in the proper folder, and that they're properly assigned in the nif. I seem to remember that Oblivion had a tendency to screw up models in-game if the normals were missing or not just right, though it was more of a "placing pieces of the model in random locations" type of screwing up rather than a "neglecting to add specular lighting". I don't know how how FO3/NV handles missing normal maps, haven't had the misfortune of forgetting to copy any yet. I'm not an expert on texturing or Nifskope, but that's my 2 cents. Somewhere to start, at least.
LivewareCascade
resolved, thanks for the reply - found out it was some gash shapesdata. Stripified everything and overwrote the old data and it worked out well. Edited October 9, 2011 by LordBishek
