Request for a shield for Tyrael armor

Yes, that's moer like it! Last bit of whining, on the outer-areas, the background should be plain black, and not black/grey combine. The tribals don't really stand out against the greyish background. The rest is perfect!

So the background more like this then :

Sweet, just as I like it! I think this is all I want, so if you want, you can make an .esp for it :)

I'll put one together in a bit (for testing I had just modified the original mod with the armor to add the shield so will need to redo it) and upload and post a link here for you (just want to make a new icon for the shield also) -- I'll add a new chest to the same location and give ownership to the same merchant that sells the armor ( Rohssan in A fighting Chance ) - I will be leaving the enchant that the spell breaker has on it and the rest of the stats wiill be the same as the spell breaker shield - so you may want to adjust them once you get the files. Is there a name you prefer for the .esp ?

Should have it done in about an hour or so !

EDIT : OK here is the Download Link -- It is a 7Zip file so you just need to extract the files to your Oblivion\Data folder and activate the .esp.

I added the shield to a new chest under the floor of A Fighting Chance in the IC market District -- the chest is owned by Rohssan so it will be sold by her -- everything is newly made for the mod so there should be no conflicts with any other mods. Let me know if you have any problems with it.

did this ever get done???

There is a link in my last post to the download -- It includes the final textures and mesh for the shield along with an .esp that adds the shield with the same stats\enchant that the spellbreaker shield had to Rohssan in A fighting Chance.

Sharpen the texture with filter inside Photoshop, and it won't be blurry anymore.

And the problem with making your request from scratch:

Only the author of the armor got the required texture work to make a new piece. We don't got the base texture s/he used, neither the rune/engravings. We also do not know what you look for, mesh-wise. You ask for something to match the armor. It is not our job to find something you want, it's out job to make what you visualize. For that we need a drawing or a picture of something similar.

I'd say this retexture is very well done. For anything better, we need a lot more than we are given.

Cheers,

Matth

I don't know, but I must admit that I'm not really fond of the retexture.. It's looks great, but the appearance (as in colour) isn't quite the same as the armor. And as for the tribals, they are a bit blurry in my eyes..

As Matth85 mentioned to get the runes to match up better I would need the actual original tribal graphic brushes as it is I had to use a distortion and warp modifier to get them to follow the contour of the sheild using the ones in the armor (which causes them to distort and somewhat blur) running some sharpening on them can only do so much to restore them - and tring to match up the colors exactly is also a bit hit\miss since the game engine shaders manipulate the resulting colors as well so the texture color looks different in game than on the texture file itself for Example This pic shows the armor in game vs. the piece of the texture used for that knee area :

As you can see they are nowhere near the same color -- so trying to match the color exactly is very challenging (sure PS has a match color modifier that gets it fairly close to the original color but it is merely in the same area of colors not exact and then the normal map and their interaction with the shaders\lighting in game comes in (and without knowing what exactly was done to the originals to obtain the result along with what settings were used for the normal mapping etc. makes color matching an existing piece much harder than it would seem -- Also the Shield texture is a smaller size than the original armor ( the armor uses a lot of texture memory by splitting the pieces across 6 dds textures and 6 normal maps each 1024x1024 pixels so it uses a lot of texture memory (12 x 1.5MB+\- = +\-18MB of VRAM usage for the set of armor) which is high for a single set of armor where the shield is using a single 256x512 map ( +\-256Kb of RAM) could probably have used a larger texture map to get a bit more resolution on it and avoid some of the pixellation but didn't think about that when starting to use the original Beth texture from the spell breaker)

Yeah you're right.. I was thinking to easy about retexturing.. But don't believe me wrong, I really think you did a great job, it's just not what I wanted.. The overall shield seems to bulky for me, seeing as the armor is heavy yet very easy to move with. So I was thinking of using a bit slimmer shield, more like the shield from Jojjo

Problem is, retexturing his shield requires his permission I believe (not sure if it's needed if you don't publish it on the website or not..)

Yes, it does. You also need to credit him when you release a mod. Send him a PM and wait for a reply, and it's all good.
