DiaperGirl
Hi everybody, was wondering if it would be possible for somebody to do a small mesh edit for me. I tried doing a small texture edit on a cutlass from the mod "Golden Crest" by Kafana. The weapon was called the Diamond's Horizon. It used the texture for the Steel Claymore which caused it to look really odd (Since the claymore doesn't follow the same UV as the cutlass) so I went through and edited the texture to fit the cutlass. As I did it I wanted to give it some character since, while the old texture looked weird, it had character to it. So I tried adding a couple diamonds to the sword, to fit with the name. I have the texture completed (Which I can upload in both .dds and .psd form if needed) but I can't edit the mesh to make the diamonds appear real. I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance
JDFan
Can you upload the texture and post a link here (either dds or psd is fine though wouldn't hurt to have both !) -- much easier to look at it if the files are posted somewhere. I took a quick look at the mod and can see where the cutlass needs some adjustment of the texture (quess they just used the existing textures with a new model so the UVmap is a bit off ) -- though surprisingly they look kind of interesting anyway ! I'm not really that good at modeling but should be able to add a couple diamond shapes to the cutlass and add them to the UVMap for you also but need to see where you are adding them. Matth85
It's a rather simple thing to do yourself. A few houres with Blender, or something, and you should get the hang of UVW. 1) You mode the diamond. 2) You import the model and place the diamod.3) You UVW the diamond 4) You find some place for the diamond in the UV square. If it is full, which I doubt, you can just re-place everything. Though then you'd need to make a texture from scratch.5) You add a good specularity (!!) and a normal to the gems.6) Add it to nifskope, change what values need to be changes - I will not go into details. The shader is not complicated, nor good.7) Done. You could also do this a more tedious way, by using Nifskope and finding/placing whatever shiny object you find to a weapon.Hey, I am just throwing it out here ;) Do with it what you wish. DiaperGirl
Here's the PSD for the texture: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6ZQS03EH (If you would prefer a different file site, let me know.) I have the diamonds duplicated at the moment, one is on the hand shield and one is on the blade itself where the skull and crossbones usually are. I duplicated them and moved them up above the hilt on the texture itself for the UV, really not sure if that's a great place for them but I left the PSD in a state so that you can edit it as you see fit. If there's any problems with it, let me know and I'll try to fix it and reupload it. I appreciate the help with Blender also, I'll have to try that eventually but I'm a bit swamped at the moment. xD
JDFan
Here is a new NIf with the 2 gems added -- I left them using the Diamond texture from the game instead of adding them to your UVMap since they have a glow texture and some transparency Hope this is what you wanted.
