New Master (call back to fallout 1)

So I read up on the fallout wiki and learned a lot. And Nothing seems more cool than this epic character/situation:

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Master

And I think if there was just 1 location for this guys base, it would make for a really epic adventure for the player. (yes in the story he dies, below I explain how someone "takes up where he left off") I am proposing that there is a new master, located in the Mojave wasteland, and he sets up shop and makes for an epic quest/adventure for the player.

Things about this character/setting that would make this mod cool:

- He Messed around with the FEV to make a mutant army and expirement with new mutants

- Boss battle was really cool, could evolve as the battle went on. Could be done by the boss going into chambers and walking out as a different mutant model (might take a little work to do this, but could include the boss going to different stations and releasing new mutants at different checkpoints in the battle. AS an alternative to an evolving boss during battle)

- Boss battle also included his army attacking you, which meant multitasking between fighting the boss and fighting his mutant army (classic fallout, would be epic)

- His REAL base was hidden inside an epic base. A cult civilization was the cover story, but it turns out they were hiding the master's base. Very epic discovery moment for the player.

- His ultimate plan was to convert all of humanity to a race of homogenous mutants (good motivation for his conversational points) The new master's plan is identical to the old one.

- Probably would like to convert the player to a ghoul (Ghoul Race Mod on Nexus uses similar Configurations to make this possible)

- Pre-discovery of the hidden base, player could come across a fellow traveler, and then find him later as a mutant

- The cult hiding the secret base is in itself just good material, but the fake community hiding them could be any sort of community (fake NCR base or fake whatever), what makes it cool is that it's a fake community hiding a sinister base/army

- Infiltration of the cult would be fun (pretending to join them)

- Once inside the hidden portion of the base, the player could continue to infiltrate by wearing the cult's elder clothing, or shoot his way in. Coming across Laboratories with FEV experiments (plenty of opportunity for computer terminal records for lore hunters)

- The laboratories could show the process of creating mutants, showing humans in a line going into a chamber, coming out as a mutant, and a mutant worker decides whether or not to kill the failure mutant, or keep it.

- An EXCELLENT story point for the player could be a mutant worker thinking that you are another human prisoner, and pushing you into the slave pen, and the player can either escape the process or enter the chamber and become ghoulified (and try to convince that he is a success, or fight his way out when he is deemed a failure)

- Building on that capture and attempted ghoul conversion on the player, the player will be in a prisoner yard with other captured smoothskins PRIOR to attempted ghoulification. There are multiple possible endings to this mod, the player can unite the prisoners and attempt to riot/take over the facility. Can accept the ghoulification and aid the new masters efforts. Can fail at escaping, become ghoulified but at the last minute take on the mutant army and THEN free the prisoners. Player can escape by himself and get his gear back and come back guns ablazin. Still kinda working out a couple different endings here, but I don't want to propose anything that's going to scare any potential modders reading this (not like I already have, ha!)

Making this Lore Friendly:

- The first master was someone who accidentally was exposed to FEV THEN became mutated (and thus "saw the light"), this new master could be an existing ghoul/supermutant that exposes himself slightly (enough to grant him greater knowledge) or could just be a human who sympathizes with the mutant cause of unification. (just want to avoid an identical, accidental exposure to FEV, want to have SOME differences between this story and the original from fallout 1)

- Old master tried to create new mutant races, but failed at making them able to non-sterile, however, it says in the fallout wiki that Deathclaws exposed to the FEV are somehow not sterile, so at least this new master has something to work with.

- It's a secret base so the fact that it's not mentioned by the rest of the world is fairly lore friendly

- The cult that operates this hidden base could keep to themselves and outside npc's could mention "I wonder what goes on in there." or "just some crazy cult."

Making this work:

- The fake community base wouldn't require any custom models really, could use an existing faction as the fake community

- Interior mutant army might include some custom mutants from mo-mod, great model work there, and the master's model could just be a super mutant (but for the boss battle, if he evolves he could go to a chamber like protectrons chamber or like an autodoc and come out a different model)

- As for the possibility the new master converting the player to a mutant, this is VERY optional, but certainly would be cool as a failure/partial failure ending for the player. As there is no known cure for being a ghoul/mutant known in the fallout universe the player would be stuck as one. Being a ghoul would be much more plausible for this part, currently there is no playable supermutant race. I assume converting the player to a ghoul would just a matter of change the player face/body model .nif file

- As for the mutant creation assembly line, this would also involve something going into a chamber and coming out a mutant/ghoul. Now this can be a scripted event and by no means does it have to be re-occuring

All in all, this to me would be on the level of epicness BEYOND what we've seen NOT ONLY from other mod creatores, but if this is created similarly to how I described, I would say this would go beyond even what the DEVELOPERS have created, in levels of epicness. (to be fair, this is fairly close to the fallout 1 setting, but we haven't see this in the 3d fallout game engine yet)

And from the looks of this, it DOESN'T seem like it would be uncharted territory creating all that I have described here. This looks like this is all just going to come down to time spent in geck.

I miss the Master from Fallout 1 (and the Children of the Cathedral).

Seems like some nice ideas you have here.

I'm not sure if turning the PC into a mutant is possible though as Supermutants are creatures, not NPCs. Maybe make some kind of Supermutant looking armour that can't be removed?

Anyhow bringing back the Master is a great idea.

Ya after some thought the only way this would work if the player fails at escaping the assembly line he could only turn into a ghoul. I think THIS is failrly do-able, considering the following mod:

http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38818

Now maybe the player messes up. Doesn't want to be a ghoul. Pretty sure in the fallout universe there is no cure to being a ghoul, but maybe after the quest the player could meet a plastic surgeon that can do skin grafting (which allows the player to reset appearance to normal skin.). Not curing his ghoulification, but putting a layer of human looking skin (would have normal appearance of humans, just an excuse to undo ghoulification)

And I encourage anyone who reads this thread to read the fallout wiki page on the master, and his interactions with the player. The concept of the character and his Faction is LORE-GOLD.

Edit:

Perhaps as a archive simulation where you are the vault dweller and the mojave brother hood uses that sim to train

Ok here is a quote from the fallout wiki:

It was from the Vault Dweller that the Brotherhood learned about the Master's mutant army and his plans to turn all human survivors into super mutants. With the support of High Elder John Maxson, the Vault Dweller managed to convince the Council of Elders to send a squad of Paladins to the Mariposa Base. With the help of the Brotherhood, the Vault Dweller eventually managed to defeat the Master.

Ok now you tell me, what is more cool:

- A generic shootout of BoS NPCs vs. mutants/turrets?

- or an immersive infiltration into a community hiding a terrible secret, and then being thrown into the assembly line where the mutants are created. And you fear being turned into one of "them" and THEN shooting up the place and freeing prisoners and taking on the new master.

You tell me, haha. YES i have considered doing an exact replication of the Fallout 1 encounter with the master and personally I don't think it really matches up with what I've come up here. But if you wish to develop your idea maybe it could be a viable alternative.

2nd Edit: OK I've spent some time reconsidering just for the sake of fairness, and I've found couple ways to dress up your simulation idea. (HOWEVER I WOULD MUCH PREFER THE ORIGINAL PROPOSED IDEA FROM MY FIRST POST ON THIS THREAD)

1: A direct recreation of the fallout 1 interaction between the paladins and the master would be boring, thus we would have to dress it up. However, one pro you're idea has is that it would require MUCH less effort from a modders standpoint to create this idea

2: As for dressing up fallout history, we would have to include the BoS freeing the prisoners and using them to help take over the facility (from my original idea) and also would have to include the Multiple stage boss battle. POSSIBLY could we have a mutant kill your team and capture you and throw you into the assembly line attempting to convert you to the ghoul/mutant army.

WHY I WOULD PREFER THE ORIGINAL POST IDEA RATHER THAN THIS: You're proposed idea combined with my improvements is EXACTLY my original idea MINUS the Immersive community infiltration in the beginning of stages of the mod. Thank you for the feedback though.

as for the ghoul thing, yeah its doable, it might even be a good moral twist 2, like u choose to run after someone to save them at the risk of your ghoulification

Ya I could definitely see that, but that brings to question, what would the risk be? what variety of decisions could the player have to make? So far all I can see is meeting an NPC in the early stages of the quest who is about to be ghoulified and you create a distraction to save him, which he returns the favor. Shooting for cliches here and think I nailed it.

This mod makes mutants a playable race Mutant playable race mod You could also have some different variant FEV virus loads around that could be used on the character to give them different abilities/ boost stats. Though this would be best to limit it to just using one, which would make it even more interesting as you could have things feel very different based on what ability you chose or what stat you boosted.

As to how the Master could be back..I see a couple of good options:

1.) Totally lost it first gen Supermutant convinced they are the Master (or one that decided to set themself up as the Master to have an army of thier brethren to rule over)

2.) Human that has learned of the Master (and perhaps found some secret files of his broadcast to a facility) who seeks to found his own empire built on the backs of Supermutant militia/slaves, possibly an exiled Enclave or BOS scientist ...or a former Vaultdweller scientist since if it was a highly scietific Vault his/her training would be just as extensive.

3.) A computer (or robobrain) that had the Master's personality copied to it as a contingency by the Master so he (and his work) would live on even if he was killed.
