Earthbound on VC. Buying?

I quite like Earthbound... and Ness is a powerful character on Smash Bros if you know how to use him.

I won't be getting it though, for the simple reason that my wii isn't connected to the internet, and to do so would require several metres of extension cable, and the loss of either my PC's internet or my phone.

...It is wireless ready right out of the box, and that is really the only way to connect to internet on it without an adapter. Have you even looked at your Wii?

And plus, do you even need internet on your PC 24/7? You could use a router if you do. The only reason for not downloading VC games is not having internet at all. You download it once and it can be playable on your system forever, if you like (and if fate cares enough). You just need SD cards large enough to hold all that you have.

I'm only promoting awareness for Earthbound, it's not out yet but it will be. Although, I must tell you, one session with the Wii online, with a stable connection, can open many new doors for you and your Wii. I've been playing VC games on my Wii for months without even considering playing a non-downloaded game on it (game droughts suck), but I think I would play them more often than play my other games on it.

Earthbound may not be out yet... maybe not for a while, but please, if you'd download some of the other games on the VC list, consider getting this one, too. I know I will, even if there are some ways to get it for free. I buy the other games too, but I'm really waiting for Earthbound.

Yeah, I don't have any wireless set up, and the only phone socket where I can get any internet (that works) is right up at the top of the house. The Wii is right down at the bottom, that's why I don't have internet on it.

Besides, I don't have internet on my PC 24/7, in fact I hardly ever have internet on my PC for any length of time. The rest of the time either my mum's laptop is connected or we have the phone. And I would've got a router ages ago, but unfortunately my mum doesn't really trust me with anything to do with computers- if I tried to buy one, she'd probably just do what she did with the new graphics card I bought recently, ie. lock it away so I can't get at it. I don't even know where it is.

That is why I don't have internet for my Wii.

...that's f**ked up... your mom sounds like a tech Nazi, for that I am sorry. Good luck with that.

  • 1 month later...
I wish Nintendo had released Mother 3 here in N. America - I actually liked playing EB on my SNES when it first came out (EB that is). When I get my Wii, I don't think I'd DL it only because I happen to have the ROM on my PC.
