New Mod : The Root Of All Evil

Recommended Posts

Hey. I'm adkskaters and I'm telling you about the New mod me and a friend are working on called "The Root Of All Evil". I think its lore friendly as it does not really contradict anything (well nothing big). So here it goes. Ill start with the main lore part.

300 years before the Oblivion crisis a necromancer by a name which is unknown, came to Cyrodill from a distant land. The name of the land is unknown, lost to time. He was a very evil necromancer and experimented with soul gems and putting souls into everyday objects, such as food or armor. He eventually made a breakthrough where he figured out how to put his own soul into an object if he was slain. So he fashioned a set of daedric armor that would split his soul into five parts, each going into a different part of the armor. many years later he settled down and took on an apprentice. He taught all of his knowledge of daedric magic to this apprentice, all but one, the ability to put his soul into an object. The apprentice tried again and again to make his master explain the secret to him until he eventually killed his master. The master's soul was put into the armor, and the apprentice knew this so he attempted to destroy the armor but found it to be unbreakable. So he took the armor to a special place, where no person would ever find it.

40 years before the Oblivion crisis a knight named Baxtriz, who was the current leader of the fighters guild, was stumbling through the old ruins of a fort on an small island south of Cyrodill along with a search party in the hopes of finding great treasure. What they found though, was much worse than they could have imagined. They came upon a door leading into what seemed to be a cave, buried deep under the fort. When they entered, they came upon a hidden treasure, easily worth a million septims. While the other men celebrated Baxtriz followed a trail that was on the ground until he hit a dead end. Puzzled he started to walk away, but not before stepping upon a trap that opened the wall to a hidden room. In the room he found the armor of the necromancer. Seeing as it was nicer than his current armor he stripped himself of his iron armor and put on the necromancer's armor. As he walked out of the secret room he watched as his comrades celebrated in the gold. He started to feel angry, started to feel that they didn't deserve the gold, he did. Little did he know, that the soul of the evil necromancer was changing the way he thought and felt about things. And so , in his anger he killed all of the men in the party, and told the people at the fighters guild that the others had been slain, while keeping the gold discovery a secret.

Baxtriz started to become a tyrannical ruler of the Fighters Guild, he sent his men and women on quests that were suicidal, all to give the people the lesson of his control. A new recruit by the name of Alane was becoming sick of Baxtriz's evil and the loss of all of his friends in the Fighters Guild. So as Baxtriz slept Alane killed him in his sleep, after killing Baxtriz he started to remove Baxtriz's armor, but could not, so he took the body of Baxtriz to an ancient order of underground mages, to ask for their guidance on what the armor did. They told him that when Baxtriz dawned the armor of the necromancer, the necromancer started to control Baxtriz, to use him for evil. They told him that as Baxtriz wore the armor, his soul had been mixed with the necromancer's and that the armor became a part of his body. They told him that as long as the armor remained, he could never fully die. So the mages froze him in time, so that he could never awaken and carry out his evil again.

During the oblivion crisis a group of ex-fighters guild members who were dismissed because of their loyalty to Baxtriz, broke into the ancient stronghold of the underground mages and killed all but one, they forced him to remove the spell from Baxtriz or they would kill him. He did as they asked and unfroze Baxtriz, the men then killed the mage. The men took Baxtriz back to his fortress on the island south of Cyrodill to let him rest, and prepare to carry out an evil plot to take over Tamriel, starting with Cyrodill because of it's weakened state.

The Champion Of Cyrodill learns of the tale of Baxtriz and of the necromancer in a book called "The Root Of All Evil - Volume 1". Many days later a beggar tells him of the news he heard about Baxtriz, that he was alive and plotting something. The Champion must then travel Cyrodill to find the journals of the necromancer in order to learn how to defeat Baxtriz before it is too late.

This Mod will feature:

- A custom weapon

- Custom Armor (just daedric armor, but better)

- A new piece of land below Cyrodill

- A quest line that will span the entire province of Cyrodill

- A number of new spells that are extremely powerful, found through a side quest, meant for powerful mages only

- A side quest that has you find the relics of the necromancer, 6 items that will help you defeat Baxtriz, not required to finish the main quest but VERY helpful.

- Much treasure can be found, but getting to it is a challenge

- And will tie in with a quest i will be releasing for Skyrim, to further tell the tale of the armor.

Look for it by Spring of 2012.

And Watch out for the Skyrim tie-in in the months after that.

Also can someone tell me if any of this is conflicting with any past events? Thanks in advance

------UPDATE--------

This mod will not "hold your hand".You will have to be able to follow clues and listen (by listen i mean read) to the NPC's you come across to get a general idea of where you must go. So don't expect an easy, follow the arrow, kill the guy type of quest. It may require some detective work at times.

Beta Info -

I'm hoping to have a closed beta out by late January of 2013, so if you would like to take part in this beta, post below. Then after i work out the bugs the closed testers send me, ill have an open beta.

  • 1 year later...

Ok... So, i know i made this a while ago. I actually never started on it because of sheer lack of motivation. I plan to start now. Except the story will change a bit, since i will be making this for Skyrim. I'm not going to put any dates on it, because i may not start for a while so i can gain some more experience with the CK. But, it will be done eventually, and I plan to become very active in the Skyrim modding community. Ill update this as things progress. I may base most of it on a seperate landmass, so i will not have to worry about conflicting with other mods. Not sure yet though.

You say you will change the story because you will base it in Skyrim not Cyrodil, that's fine, the one part of your synopsis that is a bit of a plot hole, is that 40 years before the oblivion crisis Baxtriz becomes the terrible leader of the fighters guild, being bad to everyone, and then during the crisis the loyal men he had retrieve his body, and then somehow revive him, how old are these loyal men, if human they would be at the very youngest 55 years old assuming they were only 15 when Baxtriz was in charge, realistically your looking at a bunch of pensioners trying to take over Skyrim, unless of course they are all elves...your thoughts?

I'm going to rework the story a bit. Make it work with Skyrim. I'm going to repost this in Skyrim Mods, i'll put a link in here. The new post will have fixed any plot holes. I'm positive the story needs improving anyway, so i'm sure i can make it alot better.
