fallen368
Hey all. I'm just getting started on modding and I'm stumped. Firstly, I would like to thank everyone here at the nexus for their great mods, creations, pics and tutorials. It has been a pleasure customizing my fo3/nv/es characters and gameplay. Funny, I found these mods by looking up console commands online. Anyway, I have had some success doing minor retex and scaling. I have used blender to create a custom armor that is a body suit style- pretty much a slighly scaled down dmra. I have found a good body replacer though (growlf's hotbody 5) and I would like to use it. Using it has been great, but I would like the armors in the game to fit it. I would also like my custom armor to mold itself to the body I chose. I know nothing of resizing, but I see a lot of "resized for dmra" armors. I messed with weightpainting, thiking that I had read that it will make the armor fit perfectly. Didn't work. I grabbed growlf's resizing ring for the upper body and longer legs. Great mod. I read in the description that it will auto resize weightpainted armors and bodies to fit the chosen size. I have tried a bbb weighpainted body and it didnt resize. I took a female lower body and copy/pasted the branch onto a lower body armor piece and it works great- The result is that I have the lower and upper parts of armor in a bodysuit that is the exact same size as the body I chose. Preblem is, the texture isn't changing. I have gone through the entire lower body piece in nifskope, selected "choose texture", selected the texture I want, but it still shows up as the imperial skin in the game even though nifskope says otherwise. Nifskope also shows the texture I want, but it's not showing up in the game. So, I decided to take the texture that I wanted and rename it to the imperial skin name and load it up. My character is still using the stock imperial skin, but the npc's of the game are all sporting the skin texture that I chose. How odd.Any of the following will solve my issue:How do I resize armor to fit a body type? (either dmguts, dmra, or hotbody 5)How do I fit one mesh over another, getting rid of the overlap? (putting boots that are slightly too skinny for the greaves I want, and stretching the boots to fit)How do I use the texture I want?Any help is greatly appreciated.Additionally, I have a bodysuit armor that I retexed and it works great. I have done it on fnv as well. But making an armor to out of a body mesh has proven to be a problem. Thanks to all who read this, and more thanks to those who are willing help.I have been scouring, reading, downloading, blending and nifskoping- I have searched thoroughly before deciding to post this. I have just run out of ideas, and resources.
razorpony
When you make an armor or clothing out of a body mesh make sure to name the material something other than 'skin' in nifscope. Anything named skin will show your races default skin texture no matter what texture is assigned to it. For help with Blender and resizing I'd search for some online tutorials. There are also quite a bit on the Nexus if you search for Blender. Resizing is more an art than a science. RP
fallen368
Thank you so much. That explains a lot. I'm going to give that a try
