spiderman02011970
I am looking for someone that is good with meshes & textures to make me a few weapons that no one else has made yet. I have waited this long to see if anyone came up with them by chance, but after looking at over 9000 weapon mods scattered across the web I have not even come close. Concept art link added to bottom of post. The first weapons is called the Elven Mind Sword. It is a two piece weapon. Part one is just a fancy blade with low damage rating, but the handle is quite unique. It is shaped like an elven hand on the end of the hilt. The hand should be able to open and close so that part 2 of the weapon can be inserted into it. Part 2 is an Elven Mind Stone. It is a rather plane looking stone when you just have it in your hand, but when you approach the sword it begins to glow with a rainbow effect. (stone is shaped basically cylindrical with rounded ends & should stick out of hand a bit on each end) The hand on the hilt will then open so that the stone can levitate to it's grasp. Then the sword will be powered up for battle and much greater in strength. It should have a scabard that is on the back of the player at an angle over the shoulder opposite of where arrow pouchs are so that the sword shows when it is not equiped. (Design of scabard is up to the sword creator) The stone will not glow when it is unequiped but will glow when enemies approach (say 50 feet). Once equipped it will glow all the time so you can see it. The second weapon is the Elven Mind Dagger. It is as you can see by its name a weapon similiar to the sword just smaller in size and proportion with a slight curve to the blade. It should also have a dragons head for the end of the hilt so that the stone for it can fit in its teeth. The stone for it will be Diamond shaped with rainbow effect. As for behavior, it works just as it's counterpart does in damage and glow. Last is the Elven Mind Shield. It is a bit different than other shields and the swords in that it requires 6 small stones be placed in it to power it up. Each stone should be a different color and glow once placed in the shield. Once all six are there then it will behave like the sword and dagger as to how it glows. The stones on the shield should be in a circle with space in the center for an Emblem. The emblem on the shield is for you to make up yourself as long as it has great detail and fits with the Elven Theme of the weapon & shield set. The stone colors mentioned are negotiable for the shield and dagger, but the sword needs to have the rainbow glow effect shown on concept art page or something similiar with glow effects for all stones. Can anyone out there make such a weapon set? I would do it myself, but I am not a graphics genius and my attempts have failed miserabley. Please Someone take up the call and make this ancient weapon & shield set for the heroes of Tamriel & Cyrodiil. You can contact me at [email protected] if you believe you can make them for me. I will take no credit for the mods creation at all, but would like to post it with full credit going to it's maker. Concept art has been added to this page for your viewing: http://wallcrawlersworld.8m.com/videogameitems.html This is a private page that is only viewable through this link. Thanks. Vagrant0
If I'm understanding this right, and no, larger text didn't help, most if not all of what you want isn't really possible within Oblivion. First, little effects like glowing gems can't be done. weapons only allow one sort of glowing, enchantment shaders, and those are constant, bound to a spell effect, and custom ones were broken by 1.2. For your uses, using textures to get the effect would be one big fail. Trying to get an activator to follow around the player, and move in sync to create the glow effect would simply be impractical, even if you did manage to figure out all the math involved with positioning. Nothing linked to the player can actually behave like that, and anything that isn't linked to the player would be totally impractical to even try. Second, this compounding weapon idea can't really be done in any way that looks good. Every weapon is it's own item. You could define a complete version, and define an incomplete version, but moving between them is limited to just removing one from inventory, and adding the other. Trying to add any sort of powerups would work in a similar fashion, just crudely removing one version and replacing it with the other. Each version would require its own mesh and object ID. Since you would just be swapping out one for the other, anything specific about the previous version (charges, durability) would be cleared and the new form would be fresh. Third, as interesting as your pictures are, trying to turn them into an ingame item would be ill-advised. The biggest problem with weapon meshes is that you are limited greatly by the amount of meshing detail they can have. Weapons over 2000-3000 polygons can cause significant slow down in game even with a decent graphics card. This is because weapons are most often being used in battle, during times with alot of quick movements, where slow, choppy graphics can make the game unbearable. During these moments the game is already strained figuring out the locations of all the polygons to render, and adding too many more can only make it worse. The more curves and details the weapon has, the more polygons are needed to make it. The more polygons, the harder your videocard has to work to render it. While some aspects could be done with largly texture work, you wanting to have a hand that grips something, combined with a jagged, curved blade, combined with additional elements with round edges, is really a recipe for trouble. Either it will slow you down considderably, or look like garbage. Ignoring the obvious issues with even making the mesh, and getting it textured. Fourth, the whole scabard issue, one hand weapons have to be worn at the side, two hand weapons have to be worn on the back. You have to have that weapon equipped for it to be seen. And you cannot change which direction it's leaning on the back due to animation issues, if you try to rotate it, it will not only look bad when drawn, that rotation will also be applied to it when held and swung, leading to a craptacular floating sword effect. This is why a weapon like this hasn't been made, and why even by searching 9000 weapon mods (pretty sure there aren't that many), you havn't seen it. Outside of it being just a weapon that has multiple versions with multiple effects (you'd be limited to things that can be done with enchantments) that can be changed by swapping out one for another, there isn't anything in this mod that would work.
