GoodGuyA
WE NOW HAVE A FORUM! Updated info here! Original thread Seeing as I'm branching this out as far as a possibly can at current time, I felt it very important to get it out to places of dire importance before thinking that I could jsut sit back and assume all will be sorted. I've reached out on the Beth Forums, moddb, and a few other brief notices in other websites as well. Surprising that I would come to this one so late, especially considering that I actually do visit this site quite often. So down to business, the information of the project can be found in the below links. Compiled Bethesda Thread of Information ModDb Group and Detailed Description of the Project's Ultimate Goal Recruitment Thread on ModDB, Edited and Reposted Below Background Plot of the Events to be Covered in the Mod's Story Basically what I need at the moment are people who are prepared for the pre-production process. I want things to be ready to go for some short time after Skyrim comes out, so I need those who are able to do cohesive work without the need for a full SDK. If you are interested you can post on any of the forums listed in the titles above, this forum, or send me a PM on either here or the other forums in the links. I hope to see a few of you talented people helping me in the work leading up to it, which you can choose or not choose to stay after with. Thank you. What we currently need is: -Concept Artists. By getting a better visualization of landscapes that we need to craft, it will be immensely easier for level designers and story writers to work around it. What you will need is preliminary knowledge about the setting (watching a few episodes of the HBO series might help) and an idea of the scale that Skyrim has for its own vision (which can be seen in the readily available pre-release media). In addition, it would help if you could also do basic armor models (again, related to the series). -Level Designers. I have an extensive knowledge of level design from my years of internal modding, but I can't say that I'm a master on the subject. Sometimes I see things that absolutely blow my mind about level design, and in this thread I try to understand the ability to approach things at many angles. You must have a basic understanding of level design in either Morrowind or Oblivion (though actual released resume is not required) and be able to draw diagrams. -Environment Designers. The world is going to be immensely tricky due to the fact that there is a wealth of content that needs to be restricted for the purposes of limiting a scale (so the project will actually be released). Thus, I need people who are good at these kind of environmental tricks that restrict but do not damage a player's experience. You must be able to work with an open world toolset and draw diagrams pertaining to ideas. -Writers. I am the lead on the story no matter what else I must be the front runner of, because I have a very certain vision to what this game can be as it relates to Martin's works. Still, I am open to change from outside sources and welcome creative thinking. For this you must have read the first four books in the A Song of Ice and Fire series and have immense communication skills. Things that are altered must be known. -Composers. Whilst I normally wouldn't hold this type of job to working from the beginning, it's always good to have a few pieces of music ready to set the mood for the project and for outsiders. You do not need to have advanced equipment in order to produce the music, hell you can just give me a sheet on a PDF file, but it is beneficial if you're at least able to record a portion of the music. The tone will be similar (but not copying!!!) the Game of Thrones soundtrack from the HBO series. Regardless of whether or not you can fill this role, I suggest you go listen to it. Amazing soundtrack. What we are not looking for (currently) are 3D modelers, coders/scripters, creature designers, and all of those things that need an actual engine to even start the work. It's honestly just because I don't want to waste your guys' time having to wait around to understand the tools you're working with. Whilst I am looking for some basic heightmapping, I don't want members of a team tapping their foot and waiting for the release. I can understand how furious one could get to find their work invalidated. I hope at least a few of you take to this post, and I hope to see you there soon. Message me or leave a comment on the group page if you're interested. See you then! Valar Morghulis
Michlo
Ambitious project. Good luck with it as I'm a big fan of the series. I wonder if you'll have to get permission though. Apparently he's notorious for controlling what is done with his work. Cheers.
jhardingame
Well, it's a fan made mod based on his work, not something he's selling, so I think he should be okay. Kind of fits into the same category as people making Lord of the Rings stuff for TES games.Anyways, hope to see this come to fruition. I always love a good quest/new worldspace mod, and plus, the shows are really good. I just hope your composers will be able to keep the same feel the original music had, as that would really make the mod special imo.
GoodGuyA
Well, it's a fan made mod based on his work, not something he's selling, so I think he should be okay. Kind of fits into the same category as people making Lord of the Rings stuff for TES games.I'm not extremely worried, since there is a Medieval 2 mod all ready available, but I still have a bit of concern. Martin has explicitly stated he hates fan fiction. I honestly don't think anyone but he himself would care all too much. I will try my best to do justice to the world though. I just hope your composers will be able to keep the same feel the original music had, as that would really make the mod special imo. :thumbsup:I have contacted a great number of mod composers and have been trying to gauge their abilities, but I myself am the only one putting in anything for it. It's a complicated process. Thanks for the support! Edited October 16, 2011 by GoodGuyA
