Ghost Town Gunfight

Hello All

So I started a new character, PN, AWOP, IWS, hardcore, very hard setting, and have to fight the damn powder gangers for 2 and a half hours worth of reloads before I finally kill them all with Ringo, Trudy, Sunny and Cheyenne still alive

So I go to Sunny and she says "Keep an eye out thre's still more out there."

And I think, "No, there isn't, there are 6 PG bodies, all is right with the world."

Nope. A while later, having dropped the difficulty and fiddled with PN settings I've killed the PG'ers again, and the same thing happens, Ringo, Trudy and Sunny all telling me there are still enemies around.

So I race around for an hour or so, killing a few giant rats and radroaches etc, and still enemies are apparently around.

Frustration sets in.

I then think maybe its the IWS (Increased wasteland spawns) mod, so I reload a save in the GS gas station from just before I tell Ringo I'm ready, and eventually kill the PG'ers again, and the same thing happens.

Spend another hour searching for them to no avail, a few radroaches and rats again, but no PG's.

All I can think of is the fact that IWS has been running since I started the game, could a mutant animal that I've missed thats been spawned by IWS be the cause?

Any suggestions? I am contemplating restarting with IWS off in the morning and seeing if that fixes the problem.

Anyone had this happen to them? Is there any way I can get around this issue?

Thanks for your time.

IWS should not be the cause of such a problem - while it makes some alteration various NPC/beastie spawns, it does not touch any quests or quest-scripted spawns like the Powder Gangers in Goodsprings. Best guess is you may have gotten one of your downloads corrupted and ended up with a bad install. While in theory that means it could technically be IWS, it would be because of said download being corrupted and altering things it wasn't intended to.

If you have FNVEdit, you may try opening it with all your active mods to see what all are affecting Sunny or Ringo (or if you can find the quest itself, see if that has been altered by any specific mods).

Bugs

pc ps3 xbox360 Sunny may die before you talk to her, thus rendering the quest impossible to finish.

pc ps3 xbox360 When returning to the gas station after talking to the townspeople, the door may be locked, requiring a key to open. However, this key does not appear to be obtainable until the mission is over.

ps3 Upon entering the gas station to report to Ringo, player may find the door unable to be interacted with thus trapping the player in the gas station.

pc ps3 xbox360 It is possible that the quest may not show up as active in the pip boy, and it will be impossible to progress in it (the non-player character dialog will not show up).

pc After completing the quest, the inhabitants of the town who assist in the quest disappear. Using the player.moveto console command finds them in the goodsprings home nearest the schoolhouse.

pc ps3 xbox360 When doing the optional quest to recruit the help of the Goodsprings Locals, Easy Pete may be at Black Mountain for no apparent reason.

pc When the player kills all the Powder Gangers, the quest does not complete, making the quest impossible to finish. This can be fixed by spawning a Powder Ganger with console commands (player.placeleveledactoratme 00104c6a 1) and killing him.

@ mnemnoch

I had to do it twice before it worked, but it did eventually work, thanks for that.

I usually would have read that, I got the fallout wiki favorited, but it was 2:20 a.m. when I posted (local time) and my facilties weren't what they could have been.

Thanks again.

WHY TROODY DOESN'T WEAR ARMOR?

Why I have to convince Chet to give me leather armors?

Just for me?(PC)

What's the point?

Convincing him to supply armor also provides leather armor to all the unnamed Goodsprings Settlers (except the one from the gecko hunting tutorial). Pay close attention and you will see they are all wearing generic Settler Outfits before the fight, then change to leather once you start the battle. It isn't really a big deal, but does make it a bit easier to hide behind the cart and let them do all the fighting if you want to keep your rep with the Powder Gangers above vilified.

I've come up with a fix for that bug and if anyone is interested I can upload it to the Nexus. I've simply edited the number of dead powder gangers required by the script so it would be equal to one. Simply put you kill a powder ganger and the quest is completed. The fight goes on as usual and once it's over Ringo (if he's still alive) comes up to have a talk with the PC. This way you don't need the console to complete the quest.

I was unaware that Easy Pete was a supermutant. Or maybe, he has a supermutant lover? Either way I thought this was weird, never having encountered it before.
